That's really handy to know as I go far more than 20 miles and always was thinking of good excuses to tell vosa or hmrc as to why I was 100s of miles away.

You can legally travel 20 miles from your 'base' on red diesel but your base can move to the site your working on.

Coming from a farming background there are many laws regarding tractors which are considered a grey area with the police and vosa. Weight is a big thing and length of the tractor and trailer. The only thing that is frowned upon is dangerous or unsafe loads especially when timber is concerned. I haul allot of timber on my tractor and I do 45 mph and weigh in at 28 tonne both of which is technically illegal however police I doubt will stop me for either. I did however have to change my insurance and specify I was hauling timber as at the bottom of my original insurance document did specifically no timber haulage.

Anyone in Hertfordshire that need cordwood I can help, I supply 15 ton loads with my tractor and crane and can usually source some short notice. Let me know. James

Yes rowen it does it has an AFM stroke head on it. And yes the 2850 still runs strong with 10000 hours on it.

my 1992 hitachi does everything from 2m footing to loading bulk bags onto my hilux. It's a 1.4 tonne machine.

I have one that came off a vauxhall bravo truck which I then made to fit my hilux 06 plate. I am open to offers. James
