Thanks for the helpful replies guys. I've ordered some 4 inch posts and will be looking sinking them 3ft down with some postcrete. I've got a load of timberland screws can't remember how much they were now but not extortionate. I like the idea of the geotex I have a load at home so will probably use that as well every little helps I definitely like to over engineer things just so I don't worry about them 😀

Thanks guys I think I will probably end up concreting some posts in behind the wall to be hidden slightly below the earth level rather than metal posts.
Interesting idea the ratchet strap can see the idea of it working not sure how long until it would rot down under the earth.
Mike how thick are the shims you use does this leave a noticeable gap between the sleepers of just enough for the water to escape

Hi all I don't normally do much landscaping but I have a job helping a friend out with their garden in a couple of weeks.
They have some railway sleepers which I'm going to build a retaining wall with and raising the garden level to the wall.
The wall will be about 2ft in height so nothing massive but how should I fix these to the floor to secure them. I was thinking metal reinforcing posts into concrete or is there a better more practical way I haven't thought of. Thanks in advance Andy

Has anyone looked at getting links back to their website. I am looking at putting some outgoing links but it appears incoming ones are the best. Google seem to be into this at the moment any ideas on how to do this would be great thanks Andy

Seo IMO is a con. There's a simple way to climb google in very little time if the guy designing your site is telling you seo is the way to go be wary.
All the guys that gave me good advice told me to avoid it.
Our site gets 2 calls a day and it costs less than £50 a week it was no2 on google 3 days after going live and has remained between 1st and 3rd spotit's a no brainier
I'm just playing around with my site at the moment and trying to work out the best ways of getting noticed on Google. I know this is a minefield but slowly it is creeping up the rankings. Do you have any tips to avoid the seo route thanks Andy

Jon I bought a pair the other week so yet to long term test them but a very comfortable boot none the less. I tried all the usual boots in the shop but these certainly were the most comfy just need to see how they get on long term.

There just seems to be so much of it about at the moment I'd just got myself to a point where I had a nice lot of decent gear which I was happy with. Thanks everyone for your kind offers I've managed to sort a couple of bits out so should be able to get by but may need to give you a call if I get stuck

Stihl ms200t 2007 with 14inch bar
Stihl 025 2001 with 18inch bar

Thanks Gardenkit I did wonder if the belts could have worn. I have changed the clutch cable recently but had this problem before and I thought the cable appeared to be sticking which was causing the problem.
I think I'll hope for the best and get some belts then if not go for the expensive option!

Hi all I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I have a 2006 Hayter harrier 48 which I'm having problems with the drive on. When I start it and run it for about half an hour the drive mechanism works perfectly I have fast and slow speed.
Then for no reason I seem to lose the fast speed and it crawls along like a snail. It will carry on at this pace unless I turn it off and leave it to stand for about half hour then it runs fine again.
This is getting frustrating especially with some of the bigger lawns I have to cut.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with it and how I can rectify the problem.
Thanks Andy

Hi all in looking at getting an infrared wildlife camera to put in a tree for security on my van outside my house.
I came out today to find all my rear wheel nuts loose and a flat front tyre which is strange considering I live about half a mile up a track in the forest. Does anyone have any recommendations for cameras that I can hide to catch who is doing this. How do these cameras work are they linked back to a computer via wire or by wifi? Just planning where to put it. Thanks Andy
