They haven't even got room to roll over in those graves!

It's definitely on the news channels not been a good year 2016

A step back to a time where the threat of the European question meant an entirely different thing.
Aerial images of Hampstead Heath taken in 1941 when the open spaces of grass were taken up and used for a more fundamental purposes than leisure

I'd definitely stay away from the MK1 Caddy.... It useless as an arb truck.
Personally, with a baby en-route, with the research I've done, I'm looking to get a Mazda, Ford as my first 'proper' pick-up.
(anyone want a mk1 caddy - 1.9TD AAZ conversion )
Love these early daddy's would look good in

If you've never heard of this. The selected trees in a forest are stripped, topped and appropriately flagged. They are then cut at the bottom all for a strip of holding wood in the centre....and picked by sky crane helicopter at a later date. A better alternative to clear cutting I believe. Some climbing and topping footage. Western red cedars upto about 150ft x 5ft dbh.
Use HD setting. Thank
Great video Reg makes even the biggest dismantles we do over here look a bit girlie

I don't know why we're all not back cutting trees with a remote control chainsaw this is the way forward!😜

He's worth a hundred of you, with your nasty, little, aggressive comments. It would make a pleasant change if you actually made reasoned comments instead of just being abusive. I've held off on this until now because, tbh, I'm sick of the arguments on here but here's a conundrum for you; if somebody is able enough to go out robbing then should they not be able to work instead? There is work out there if people want it but too many think they are above grafting for a living. I have every sympathy with people who rely on benefits through genuine need but have nothing but contempt for those who expect a free ride when they just can't be arsed to lift a finger. My observations come from real life, not the media, in case you were going to run out your usual 'demonisation of the working classes through the medium of Benefits street et al'. If anybody thinks that it is ok for some thieving turd to rob a working man then they are as low as the thief in the first place.
Well said !

Great video well explained and easy to follow. I'm hoping to get myself a mill soon so will need as much help as I can to get some nice boards

Recently looked at a large reduction job for a customer in my local village. I'd been recommended to her by other people in the village so hoped I'd got the job. I knew that she was getting a couple of other quotes as well so priced the job and waited to hear from her.
I had a phonecall and she asked if I could pop round for a chat about the spec on the job.
When I arrived we chatted about the job and she said I was the cheapest which I didn't think I would be as I'd put a fair price on the job. She said I was a couple of hundred cheaper than the next person and that if I upped my price by £100 she would get me to do the job!
Now I've never had that before a customer wanting to pay more. The job was a good earner on my original price so will earn even better on the new price there nowt queer as folk I guess

I bet there is I'll finish off end of next week at some point when I've been at home for a few days and gone stir crazy
-
Stop stressing about it and concentrate on more important things. Cheers for the Ciders, btw!
No worries thanks for your help the last few days mate. I know I've got more important things I think I wrote this about 6am this morning after listening to voicemails from the last few days from customers. Lack of sleep and customers who won't listen got to me
I'm now off to bed to be woken up every hour by the baby 😃

Job done... But DON't tell the TO..
Nice work if only it was that easy.
-
Ok I'll stop winging then 😳 just felt like I'm cutting it for the sake of cutting. I know i do this every week carrying out reductions because the customer doesn't like the leaves wants more light etc. this one felt different though. It does need some remedial work which I'm happy to carry out thinning reducing over extended limbs it's more the height reduction I felt was pointless and wouldn't achieve anything.
-
Think it's lost some due to a lightning strike some years ago
-
I'd happily reduce that and keep it looking spot on and Bill the client to suit. Hire a 50m platform and it would make it child's play to do in a day if your not comfy climbing it.
Yeah I can see where I'd reduce it to and keep it looking good it's just me in my head finding it a bit pointless when in reality this tree is only a baby and has a lot more growing to do. I think the climbing part would be the fun bit 😃 just put a couple of days on wouldn't probably exceed the cost of a large mewp

Yes I'll dig one out its not my pic but one from a redwood website taken a few years ago
-
Imho.
Ha ha yes I know your right
-
If it has a tpo its out of your hands.
Let the TO decide, then follow his instructions.
Exactly that's what I've told them I just have a horrible feeling that if an application gets rejected which I think it will then they will bypass that option with someone else doing it. I know then that's on their heads but don't want the tree ruined

I took a smaller (but still about 1.6m DBH) sequoia from a site in Alloa a year or two ago. I say took, I mean uplifted for milling (it became cladding).
The reason for removal was it's proximity to a crappy 1970s bungalow. It was probably only 4m from the tree. The tree was obviously there when the house was built and it was such a shame to remove the tree. I'd have demolished the house personally!
Point is, people are idiots and bricks and mortar (no matter how distasteful or poorly constructed it is) seem to trump (sometimes historic) trees. I hope your sequoia survives unmolested, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
I know all to often do I come across this situation only the other week was the customer moaning about where they had planted these 150 year old oaks next to their 1970s bungalow, as I get older I seem to dislike people more and more 😖
This house actually predates the tree as it was owned by the army major in the 1850s who planted the tree albeit far to close to the house.
I'd still probably remove the house over the tree despite it being a nice place but that's me.
I've got to go back and have more of a chat with the customer tomorrow so will try and get my point across more but I know people are right in saying if it does get done I should do it. I'm hoping the tree officer refuses the application if that's the case and I would revert back to my original plans 😉

Oops posted to early they only want 10ft off not 10m. This in my opinion is pointless anyway won't make any difference just produce weak growth that will probably need to be thinned in few years
