There is no definitive answer it's a how long is a piece of string question. Until it's on the floor forwarded to a place where someone can load them away on a lorry then it's worthless.
As aspen Arb said until it hits the floor you just don't know the condition and you get get unlucky as he did with that oak.
I suggest felling and inviting people to come and have a look and then you will get your answer

Check to make sure it hasn't been put in a folder on the home screen I've done that myself before and thought id lost stuff. You shouldn't be able to delete the music folder

Id see if they have photos before you do anything else as your number plate could have been cloned and be on another faster vehicle

Lovely job can't beat doing things properly I wish I could do more hedges by hand but customers aren't willing to pay that little extra it will cost in time top work!

oh, seeings you're here......
People who take initiative and look for stuff to do on site without being asked. I'm not used to that and find it very off putting
Save
Does he do that for you as well don't know who he thinks he is using initiative on a job site 😉

We've been asked to price a 400 mtrs hedge reduction from its current 10mtrs height to 1.8mtrs. Its mostly hawthorn but a mixed hedge. Thing is...every few metres the stems are a foot in dia & it so we thought a tractor/flail might handle most of it between those stems. How would others approach this? Sorry to derail but I've no experience of flails. Local tractor/flail hire with operator is around £250-£350 per day but I thought flails could only deal with say 3" dia?
I quite often do jobs like this. A good friend has a flail so he does as much as he can do then the bigger stuff I follow him and tidy up with a saw and hedge cutter if you need a tidier finish works well for me.

Don't use the de comp valve mine have never worked from new on any of my husky saws!

You won't lose money if you put the galv chassis on it they go for even more money when done. I'd go for the galv chassis and the thing will last forever I'm looking into doing my 130 at the moment.

I've had very similar a customer had to remove all trees within a certain radius. One was a large willow but the others a small cherry and row of small conifer trees was crazy. They also wanted a neighbours small apple tree removed before they would insure him. I advised to go with another company but the customer decided to remove the trees. The garden looked very bare and soulless afterwards which was a shame. We didn't remove the neighbours apple tree as quite rightly the neighbour told the insurance company to do one!

I left the uk for Canada, with my wife and daughter over 5 years ago now. Id lived and worked in other countries previously, but only ever on a temporary basis.
None of it is easy....the preparation, the move and re-settlement thereafter. I carried a lot of guilt with me thereafter, for separating people and leaving others behind. Then theres all the practical things like re-integrating, getting established and keeping your head above water. The move also put an enormous strain on the marriage.... somehow, we stuck with it though.
I think throughout it all, a big part of what kept me focused has been the welfare and future of my daughter, who was two and a bit at the time. I knew deep down shes better off here.
I came back for a brief visit 2 years ago, and, it felt good. I realised a lot of stuff Id missed.
I just got back a couple days ago from another visit. But it was a completely different experience. Whilst in England more recently, I felt absolutely nothing for the place....no connection at all. I had a good time, don't get me wrong....but at the same time I couldn't wait to leave. I was surprised. Ill always be British, but I hope I never have to move back there.
I'm not saying my life is any better than a single person here....but I was thinking about this while I was over there, and, if I had to name my price for giving up what I have here in BC and moving back, honestly....I wouldn't do it for any less than Ten Million pounds. Seriously. I don't care if I have to work on trees out here until the day I die....rather that than be a millionaire back in England.
Every bodies different I know....and it often depends on your circumstances and where your priorities lie. I suppose what I m saying is that if you've got the incline and the means to do it, then you should. Because it might turn out to be the best thing you ever did. I also think its better to try and fail, than not try at all. You may never get another chance.
I know the feeling we are just in the process of emigrating to Canada, Alberta to be precise so a few years behind you. We're going to be giving up a lot to go family friends my business etc but feel it's the best thing to do for our little ones. The life style there seems so much better for kids and us for the future. We're lucky as we do have close family there so not going to be all alone in a strange country.
Unfortunately for me I feel this country is slowly going downhill. I love this country but worry how it's going to be for my kids as they grow up.
It's always good to hear from people who have gone to Canada and made it work for themselves as I will be starting the business again from scratch so good to see it's possible and achievable.

My father in law was in bands in Southend in the 70s and had the pleasure of playing on the same bill as feelgood at the kursaal and the kursaal flyers at another gig not that I'm jealous 😜

You have to admit that the combination of him and Norman Watt Roy when they are playing can be a bit visually disturbing for the faint hearted
Most definitely but they don't make musicians like that anymore most are so boring nowadays
-
Used to see him at the station regularly when I lived just outside Southend. Really nice bloke if a bit off the wall Got tickets to see him later this month.
I lived on canvey island for many years used to see him regularly when he played there thoroughly nice bloke I learnt a lot about my guitar playing from talking to him and watching him.

I don't suffer from asthma or hay fever but these trees are the only thing that I can't be around in summer time. They set my nose and eyes off just being near them it's the pollen I'd definitely won't do any work on them this time of year

That's the one instantly annoys me normally used by customers and a certain section of the community who also do lopping topping and limping
