  1. It is Timon.

I haven't heard a single good thing about the new Pantin, and I need to replace my old one as the spring is pretty tired.

I'll probably go for the CT unless anyone in the UK is stocking the Camp one, which does look pretty good.

Treekit.com stock the camp ascender. I've had a go on most of the foot ascenders. Depends on your preference but the camp one self tends better than CT and has the option of lock or not. CT doesn't have an unlock setting.. New Pants-tin doesn't have a lock with carib option as the old one did, but you can put a keyring thing in there that'll do the trick. See instagram for pics and others slagging off Petzl.!! Also the kernmaster rope with its 48 strands can lead to ascender slippage if the teeth aren't aggressive enough (Camp)

Two tentsiles and my homemade tent up a tree in South Wales.

Have to see my Instagram account (timberwolf190) for more pics/vid

Also an article on Dmm professional website 😊 incase you're interested ;-)

  3.

A video from the Live Scenario part of the Treekit/Galahad course.

You can sit in a village hall with St. John's if you like... but this is a dedicated Arb course utilising proper trauma kit for when it's really bad. Not stuff covered particularly well by standard first aid courses or the contents of your average kit.

  4. Just spotted this thread.. I'm running an 835 with a log arch and timber trailer. You're going to ask for a bunch of figures and stats I expect.!! Suffice to say it does ok.. I wouldn't try skidding out big loads on the 35e winch too. It does it (reluctantly) but it's a bit underpowered. Of course it all depends on traction too.

Some pics attached but 'older phone' ones on my Instagram account.

    Search hashtag #agromehanika there.

  5. I don't want to sound the same, but iv always wanted to go to a comp and watch or compete and I just never ever know when they are on don't even know when all the shoes are on eather, I do think a arb calendar on this site would be a beneficial addition

Yes an Arb calendar ... Events, seminars, workshops, competitions and shows.

    Great idea James

  6. I'm going to have a look either Thursday or Friday after work, I'm sure Mike will try & sell me one while having a cuppa, lol

Haha Maybe the tea is drugged!!

I find myself coming to just as I say 'thank you' and leave the place with more gear in hand. Lol

  7. How much, think i'll stick to my £9.95 bag from the local shop and big 35 litre plant pots with handles for the ropes!

They do look nice though I'll give them that.

Haha... Yeah I got a few big tubs on the go too... handy for keeping lowering rope off ground/tidy during ops :-)

  8. Are you on commission?

Sent from my GT-N7100 using Arbtalk mobile app

No... But I talked them into stocking them even though they are the designers of the 'silver bull' bags.

Kinda 'love your bags but I want this!'

So I'm cleansing myself of the guilt!!

  9. This innovation arose because I'm done with technique refining, ppe trousers interfering, branch contact etc all resulting in rope kick out. I am disappointed that petzl removed the locking option and would buy the CT one if I had drawn a blank on a fix. :-)

  10. I'm all over that!!

When does sharing become attention seeking?? Perhaps I need to refocus !!

Oh well.. If it's a good pic and not all blurry I'm gonna 'like' it.. Which I think is proper, if someone has taken the trouble to upload it ;-)

Certainly seem to attract less negative criticism on there, than here... Haha..

    So bring it. Lol

  11. Hi All... I'm posting on behalf of my customer. And you are calling them to enquire.

Anyone interested in purchasing various lengths of storm damaged Atlantic Cedar on Wilts/Dorset border.? Trunk still standing, measures 1.7m Dbh and is approx 6m high before damaged area. Number of other lengths and bits too.

Call site manager: Paul 07977 222219 in office hours.

    Thanks

  12. It's a big topic and depends on which gizmo.. But in a nutshell.. Ease of operation, predictable friction, use of core muscles (foot ascenders), faster access with less effort, one handed slack tending on branch walks.., etc

Possibly best served by picking a gizmo and looking on YouTube for a video. The next best thing is having a go.

Lots of Arb shops do demos and trade fairs are a good place to see what's what. ;-)

  13. Timberwolf190, I like that in theory but I guess you have to keep all that stuff on your left leg whilst working.

These quite good ideas are the stepping stones to really great ideas. Well done!

No, left leg gear is just for a long ascent. I havnt spent enough time in the chandlers looking for a less fiddley alternative to the mini shackles currently used. At mo have to unscrew one shackle (without dropping pin!) then just release the foot harness.. Not exactly arduous but not ideal. :-)
