  1. Thanks Rob! :-) Ah that's great - do you enjoy being a Tree Warden? I've emailed the Tree Council and for non wardens they charge £10 for their courses which is so good! They've emailed me a list of courses and dates - one is very soon, so I may have to go for it Thanks for your warm welcome, and help!
  2. Thank you ChrisG I have that long document printed and in a folder.. It's like my tree bible!! :-)
  3. Thank you so much for all of your kind replies! I did ask for this thread to be deleted - but I'm glad I was talked round. All the information you've provided is brilliant and very helpful! Yes the aboricultualist that works for our Borough is so helpful and he's going to take me out for the day to share his knowledge - which I am looking forward to. I've emailed the Arb Association to see whether they offer the course locally to me. Loving the look of the book you've recommended too! I'll have to remember about the ignore button lol
  4. Jheezz! How rude! Yes I do have a planning background. If I was claiming to know everything about trees - do you think I would be here?! I have a keen interest and would enjoy volunteering as a Tree Warden outside of my working life. Thanks to those that have actually taken the time to help answer my question and not feel the need to judge me because I asked for advice.
  5. Hey. I work for the Local Authority in the Planning Department. I've read books and been out on site. Although I have nothing tree related on paper.
  6. Hey. I've just joined this forum - reading through other posts - you seem very helpful! I've started dealing with applications for protected trees.. (Conservation areas and TPO's) We have an arboriculture who I consult on some applications. Can anyone recommend a tree surveying course - to help me identify, diagnose tree problems etc.. I've stumbled across a couple: Introduction to Arboriculture - Learning Curve HCC Certificate in Arboriculture from The Horticultural Correspondence College Ltd : Arboriculture Arboriculture For Beginners - Courses Direct Thanks 'Terds' which I've just read means - Tree Nerds lol
