  1. Picked up the single battery 18 volt t handle other day and am liking it. Not started hedging just yet so can't comment on run times etc. The little Makita will be used in conjunction with the ol stihl.. laying smaller stuff with Makita, and cutting out firing etc with the petrol.. Would like to convert the Makita 18v to a 1/4 inch stihl 10inch bar and chain.. Running the standard 56 link stihl chain.. anyone done this conversion and what sprocket was used?, how many tooth sprocket? 7,8 and is that off the stihl msa saws? or the 9 Makita one?.. Do you drill the bar to get the 56 link to fit? Any on line videos of the 18 v Makita to stihl bar conversion?
  2. Is this with the 1/4 inch chain? Or 3/8? The 1/4 would make lovely pleacher, pruning cuts.
  3. Thankyou, yes this is what I was hoping to hear two batteries lasts about a tank of fuel.
  4. Do a fair bit of hedge laying each season and for years have used my trusty stihl ms181 saw which has been faultless. Always looked at it as a do a season and chuck away and buy a new but truthful the saw keeps going and I guess this one is going into its 6 season. I Borrowed a stihl mse200 battery saw last year and got on well but bit disappointed in battery run times. Been thinking about the little Makita either the 18v or the 36v. Top handle saw which looks light weight and useful size in a hedge. Would like to hear from those that have the little Makita what they think of them? Run times? Any problems? Most of the hedge stuff is 4inch and down, so for the bigger stuff the old stihl will be used ..
  5. The p 30 contractor is designed for a spike, it uses the Tele mast to pull spike. Spoke to Protech today and got one sorted. Thanks
  6. Thankyou. Have sent you a message. Cheers
  7. Hi does anyone know what steel is used for the rock spikes? Hardened tube? Solid hardened steel bar? Looking to make one for a small p30 protech, they are 60mm n dia and about 6 foot long ..
  8. For the last 10 years have had a couple of stihl ms 181 saws. 16inch bar, and can say they have been fantastic for a cheap 200 quid saw. Really can not fault them. Nice and light, keep chain sharp and they are a capable and nice saw to use in a hedge..
