  1. I used to do this in my local park, I used to practise my climbing when I started out. Best to pick a tree outsight, otherwise people tended to gather round. Think the biggest issue would if your on your own and your get into difficulty good luck tree

  4. will have a look at bct and tree life and myerscough. I know it will take a few courses and a lot of training with my local bat group, but hopefully worth it

  6. is there any one in the west midlands who run course on basic bat inspection in trees?
  7. true, no good on small stumps or scrub. as already stated brushing it to freshly cut stumps works well, we used a chemical called woody was good, but near water course a roundup based chemical is approved for use.
  8. ecoplugs work well, aslong as you put enough plugs for the size of stump, there around .80p-£1 ea

  13. thanks Paul, think your correct on what your saying, and I will probably go down the L6 route myself, just want to make sure its the qualification to go for. So am right I right in thinking that the course runs over 2years, but you have another 3 years to submit all your work? many thanks simon
  14. I did my tech cert (the old one) a few years back, and I was also looking at moving forward on to the L6, mainly because it was only 2yr and cheaper then a degree but if the qualification doesn't carry much weight within the industry, think I will wait for the outcome on this one. Has one else compared this to the online degrees?
  15. what other l6 course could you take instead? price wise compared to a degree (online) its much cheaper and a shorter time scale. but before I decide on which one, be keen to so the outcome for this thread

  17. I know many years ago Lichfield council had a xmas tree chipping programme, chipping trees after xmas, had a massive heap which did set on fire, and the firefighters tried to put it out with lots of water, but adding water makes it worse, (so im told) also there was a large woodchip heap in the Birmingham area which went up a few years back to.
