  1. Sorry not sure if the photo is close enough but look OK to me, just this season's growth. The foliage looks healthy enough.
  2. I agree the risk from trees is over stated. The HSE deems the risk low, in there broadly acceptable region.
  3. Thanks for all your help, its a great help tree
  4. Great I will have look, Thank you
  5. Yes it is a cedrus atlantica, is approx 14m high. Think may be it's more of a question of when not if it fails? At the moment there's no obvious signs to indicate failure
  6. Ive add a photo of the union, I don't see any reaction wood or signs of cracks/splits in the bark, but this is a typical cedar long weighted branches. Could you use a non invasive rigid brace?
  7. That's really helpful, I have seen a fair few included union fail over the years, but more on board leaves. many thanks tree
  8. Yes not an easy question. Just wondered if there was any information on inclusions in general. But have been looking at cedar, I don't see any reaction wood or signs of cracks. How do you risk assess this? Or is that the million dollar question
  9. Hi all I have a mature cedrus with a included Co dom stem Just wondering if tthere's any information or research on how safe inclusions are, and probability of failure? Many thanks Tree
  10. Thanks for all your help.
  11. Hi all Im looking at buying a second hand tractor, a ford 7810(I think). It has no reg plate and has never been registered on the road, im told. Is there any way I can check to see if this has been stolen?, before I buy it. I spoken with the DVLA and they weren't very help full, they told to fill a form out to registered it, but takes weeks. Any advice would be great thank you tree
  12. I see this a lot and unfortunately it's normally local authority contractor's. The tree will probably recover from the root damage but what we find is that the damaged roots tend to put on additional growth normally cracking the new surface and pushing out the new kerb in a short time period. We have looked at alternative methods for kerbs close to trees but not managed to find anything suitable.
  13. Its better if you put a membrane down first, weed matting should be ok. You can lay it around the stem to, but I put a collar round the tree to allow some room for growth. I use 4'' plastic pipe (down pipe), and I cut a slit down one side of the pipe. Both green tech and green blue urban websites will have all the info, but I have dealt with and if you ring them there very helpful
  14. As above, both companies sell resibond, its easy enough to lay, must be keep the gravel/mix dry while it cures though. also try not to get it on your hands, it doesn't come very easy!
  15. sorry it looks just below on the map, just off the m5
  16. Hi All Just wondering if anyone lives in ilminster near Weston Super Mare? I have to collect a lager printer (ebay buy) this Weekend, but I need I hand to lift it into my van. Will take 20 mins and of course will pay you for your time. Please PM if you may be able to please many thanks Tree
  17. Hi Just wondering which book you found that diagram in? Many thanks Tree
  18. Hi all Is there any standards or guidelines on how we class public area usage rates? I know there's other factors to consider but just looking for what people consider to be low frequency areas Medium frequency areas High frequency areas. I did try the hse website but didn't find any information Any help would be great Many thanks Tree
  19. its fairly straight forward if you some basic tree knowledge. Just to take note of what is said and if he or she says you might want to remember this, then make highlight in your workbook (provided) theres 20 written questions (5 on law) which you have a 1hr for. 2 tree inspections which you get 40 mins (I think) for. don't look for problems with the tree if there isn't any! and fungi id of 4 which is open book(20 min). will have to state type of rot/strategy, host sp. area it effects on the tree and arb importance. hope this helps tree
  20. Does anyone do a cat and geney ticket after they have done the stump grinding ticket?
  21. Interesting post. Not sure I would crown reduce, may be crown thinning instead, I would of suggested flexi bracing but again interesting comment with the use of steel, would it not still be a flexi brace though unless install as a rigid system using a steel rod? what about if the tree was inspected and defects recorded, no work assigned and just a re inspection date assign (say 1 year). Would this be enough to satisfy your duty of care needs?
