  1. Hi Jase, neither forward or reverse working. Hydraulic pump belt is tight and new and alternator belt tight. It is working perfect for hours and its after been switched off and then on that it doesn't work. Doesn't happen all of the time but at the moment not working. I'll pass your advice on to the mechanic. The revs seem normal but what should they be at,  good to know?

We will run through what you said. The machine has just gone over a 1000 hours. Would it be possible that a valve could stick?

  2. I normally use excel for the tree survey schedule after changing it to a print friendly format. The main report I just do in word. I figure if I could do the bulk of the excel information on site it would cut down the office time. I appreciate that there are probably easier ways but in my case I think I would be cutting the work load somewhat.

  3. Hi there.

Looking for some advice on how to collect tree data electronically. Mostly for BS5837 and standard tree reports such as health and risk.

At the moment I record data on paper and type it up afterwards which is tedious.

I seen a thread before on this but can't find it now. Thank you in advance.

  4. Great service from M Large Belfast. Richard and apprentice mechanic Nephin replaced carrier bearing and fly wheel on arbtrak 200, all covered on warrenty.Safe travel back to the North lads.[emoji3] [emoji3] [emoji106] 20190315_122404.jpeg

  5. Hi Jase. Texted you this morning .I assume now that's a landline or I got the number wrong if you didn't get my message . Had to go to Germany and will call Friday when I'm back at the chipper. Sorry for the confusion.

  6. Hi. The feed rollers on my 1928 won't engage.also the computer display is showing a much lower rpm than normal. Engine revs still should the same. Could this be an electronic solinoid problem or worse the computer is busted? I've had the alternator tested and is fine. Advice will be much appreciated.

    Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get a used valve for the self leveling ram on our omme mewp. I can get it new but is very expensive. Or can these be repaired? I was told that is better to bin it once they give trouble. Appreciate any help as always. ..

  8. Hi. Just had a replacement engine fitted into my safetrac mark1. All running well but when I go to switch from idle to run it makes an atempt at high revs but almost instantly goes back to idle.it had been laid up for the past few months so not sure if this had affected the control unit. Wiring seems to be all back in place as it was with previous engine. Wind appreciate any advice. ..

I had a 10ft ifor Williams but the chipper GM 1928 safetrak used to sit too far back and the trailer would snake plus two back trailer tyres wore quickly. This is the 12ft which is perfect for the chipper. 6k euro plus vat without ramps, sheeting and chevron.

  10. As a prior owner to a classic vehicle, you're main priority is to keep that vehicle working/on the road.If the oem part isn't available you make do & mend.I couldn't find a brake master cylinder for my bedford cf so,with a bit of fettling,I replaced it with a vw golf one.

Something as separate as a radiator can be easily substituted with a similar item and,as has been mentioned earlier,at a much lower cost.

Thanks for the advice. When the time came to trade up we were going through a recession here and I was not in a position to upgrade. I probably held on to it a bit too long and could have looked after it better in the earlier years. Anyway I would like to get it back in action as it has served me well and has worked in some very difficult terain. I owe it to the machine to give it another few years.

  11. This thread prompted me to look at the 2008 model we have spare. It has a Thermex of Reditch radiator part number 840013.

I like this mark1 safetrak as it starts easier than the kubota engined models and is not hard on batteries like the later ones.

That's interesting. I've wondered what the mark 2 was like.

  12. I've had a quick search for you & found that the part number is C150106/3 or C150106-3.It's also fitted to the Chipmaster 220.Nothing really comes up on those part numbers in terms of parts for sale or equivalent.

Searching for Kubota radiators on greedbay has a few results but not knowing the size,I can't pinpoint anything for you.

Mike Donnelly on 02920 569 311 has spares for the Safetrak.

R S Refrigeration Services Ltd on 01256 760633 has used Kubota spares.

If it's just a case of blockage, take the rad off and soak it over a week or so in a dilute citrus based descaling solution.Soak it for a day, drain it then flush and back flush it then refill it and soak it again. You could even drain it in situ & chuck a couple of bottles of coca cola in & leave to soak for a few days then back flush.

Thanks I will try that.i Have plenty of time as the engine is being overhauled because a con rod broke. The fitter thinks the rad is a bit dodgy and would not like to use it after getting the engine rebuilt.
