Living the dream eh. This mortgage free idea sounds great but funnily shortly after we became mortgage free, we bought an industrial unit and that was the end of that dream. If you're ambitious, you always push the envelope. Thats the way it is.
Good luck with this. I still think Ben Laws house on grand designs was the best of all.
Ben Laws was very cool

'tony's artwork has really come on well this term'.
pmsl!

Thanks for. All the replies, nothing mentioned except Stihl!
Don't knock them there km56's, they've more power than you think, you want a pole cutter with an adjustable head, don't get a fixed one, and my experiences of stihl and husky are they are much of the same, so if you want speed, husky, if you have some thicker bits to cut, stihlI've borrowed a KM55 whenever I needed one, but it doesn't feel that well made and died the other day, but has always had plenty of power for the trimming I do. But really don't fancy a 4-mix think ill have to go KM56 for now as its the only stihl that isn't 4-mix.
Thanks

Need to get myself a new long reach hedge trimmer ASAP.
Ideally get one that you can also use as a pole pruner, although 99% of the time it will be used as a hedge trimmer.
I don't fancy stihl 4mix, so the only option there looks like the 'hobby' KM56.
Echo, husky, tanaka, hitachi? I've not had experience of any of them.
Thanks
Charlie.

Might know somebody who would be interested in the pto bits if you want to part with them.
Don't know what they're worth but most likely going back for a refund
Waz, yes it's brand new/unused old stock. Winch is stamped 2005 I think.
Thanks,
C

They are a lot like a defender but you have somewhere to put your elbow:laugh1:
Ha ha! I put mine out the window, I'm only little and I only just fit inside it
-
I know nothing about Discos, but do know I don't want to keep an electric on my Defender... What are you using it for?
-
The pto set up is all there, just bolt onto back of transfer box, run your shafts to the winch, hardest part is routing the shafts.
I didn't really want a PTO set up... Was after hydraulic for various reasons.
Biggest problem is transfer box is a few inches further back than normal on my defender so to fit the big PTO box thing you would have to cut out a crossmember and weld in a new one somewhere.
Thanks,
Charlie.

You have 2 set ups there the direct drive is set up properly and looks to be complete, the remainder is a hydraulic PTO set up minus the winch, I would be interested in the hydraulic parts if you want to sell.
That's great thanks.
Sorry but its the hydraulic stuff I wanted not the shaft PTO set up!!!

Any idea WTF this lot is!? Was suppose to be a full hydraulic superwinch H14W kit... Seems to me that its a PTO kit, with a hydraulic tank, some kind of hydraulic pump, the wrong hoses, and some kind of spool valve but probably the wrong one!
Winch input is a shaft...
Little red pump, is that a hydraulic pump? Looks a bit small but would fit on the transfer box with the silver adapter from the PTO kit

EDIT. First photo shows what i think is full kit on the left, and random hydraulic stuff on the right. Various mounting brackets etc with it not shown in the photo.

Glad they didn't manage to take it!

HB20, only 25" wide with 27hp & swivel. Now that's interesting!
Looks good

I was talking about this:
Timberwolf Woodchipper Parts and Timberwolf Spares 150 Rotor Shaft (2005 on)-Overhaul Bundle 2
But no idea if it would be needed or just bearings.
-
Thanks for the replies ill get it booked in for a couple weeks time, hopefully they last until then
I've just bought the fans for 150 quid the pair plus the bearings are standard at about 25 quid for 1 big and 2 little'uns. (plus a new anvil for 12 quid)650 quid for 4 hours max?....... not for me to say.
Maybe the quote included the shaft and everything? The bearings are only cheap, but if you need the shaft and everything its about £400 I think.

It's the chunks out of the fins cansing the rumble; unbalancing the wheel and mullering your bearings! change the fins AND the bearings at the same time. Doing mine Saturday for exactly the same reason.
Ah ok! Must say the chunks don't look very fresh and it only just started making a noise. Only small chunks say the size of a 5p but you must be right throwing it out of balance.
Thanks
Charlie.

We changed all bearings on our tw 125 . Only really noticed that the flywheel had a bit of movement in it when we where doing a routine blade change . It was then we discovered that the excess play in the bearings was to much . In Layman's Terms our flywheel could be rocked side to side using only minimal hand strength .
Thanks. My TW150 has started making some funky noises, like a rumbling I guess. I was expecting to find some play in the flywheel, but I can't feel any by hand, is it safe to assume I can keep using it until I feel some play?
I did check the fins while I was at it, a couple of small chunks missing so they're already on the shopping list for when the bearings get done.
Thanks, Charlie.

I don't think that long - I'd say half a chain... you could use it for a full chain but like a file loses it's effectiveness and gets hollowed out...
Keep the old stones though as they are great for getting a load of damage off a chain that has hit something and also I've started using the older stones for dressing as well.
One of the advantages is that it that it does not blue the tooth... you'd have to put a lot of pressure on it to do that.
great just checking you didn't use a stone per sharpen or something lol
It's main use will be sorting out badly damaged chain! Got quite a collection I've built up and don't fancy doing by hand lol.
Ill order one when I get a minute
Thanks
Charlie.

How do you check if they need replacement?
What are the consequences of not replacing dodgy bearings straight away? What else will I break? Lol
-
I remember seeing you use this, looks great.
Couple of questions
How long will a stone last? Is 1 stone per chain a good guess or more?
Do you have to be careful not to overheat/blue the chain?
Thanks,
Charlie.

You can but the tray and fabricate the rest around that
Winch Tray WARN SUPERWINCH Lowline winch mount Not WARN 8274 gwynlewis4x4 | eBay
Thanks.
That would have to be a last resort though as I can't weld! Or know anyone who would fancy that either.

The back of a chain box will tell you the different options? Think all my saws use the same though.
-
I do miss my little CS100 but she didn't get used properly, usually had to cart away the chip.

.
i have to take the drum somewhere tomorrow to get the bolts out as i don't have a torq that size, any idea what size it is?
maybe the blades are different lengths / thickness and that's why one is so close..?
A T50 from memory, maybe 45? Be very careful, they look like soft bolts to me not the hard ones it comes with?
I think check the blades are matched is the simplist thing to check first

I think they're great. 8x5 has a legal payload just shy of 2 ton, think about 3.5m3 capacity so you won't run overloaded... Fine to chip into, hard to fill to the brim though, i use the tailgates placed on top to make a little roof if i want to keep the mess down.
Just make sure you have something suitable to tow it, if you have a disco/defender etc you might aswell get a 3.5ton 10x6.
