  1. It has probably worn down but L&S engineers are pretty good on Stihl parts or try one of the sponsors on this site if you want to pick up the phone!

Mr Spud, thank you very much for getting the 372 back to me so quickly :) she seemed to run nicely for 4 tankfulls today :) bar and chain need some love though I think lol. Not sure if the 24s too big for it too...

Husky 395xp- broken clutch spring. What's best, just replace 1 spring, or 3? Does the clutch have to come off for this!? And where can I get some by the weekend!? Can't see them on LS engineers.

    Thanks :)

  2. any good ideas?

got to take a big windblown willow down in a wood, and said i wanted to create some habitat while i did it. any ideas welcome.

woodchip on site, and in piles.

    brash piles

    leave stumps

    log piles

    monolith the trunk...

rather than remove the trees its damaged pollard them.

i remember someone doing clever things like cutting cavities into trunks for bats or something- any ideas?

    charlie.

  3. I am told that I have an account set up and because of this, the people I use will continue to supply me:confused1: They have so far:thumbup:

    Cost is around £8 - £10

Part is 1123 160 5400 and is the same part for the MS170/180/230 etc.....

    Brake Band for Stihl MS170 MS180 MS192T MS200T MS210 MS230 MS250 | Stihl MS170/017 Chainsaw Spares

Let me know if you get stuck!

    You're a star thanks :)

LS engineers is who I used before I found you :P so I also have an account there :)

    Thanks

  4. Nah....the inner plastic cover always comes out of that thin plastic band on the top of the side cover - I heat the cover up and bend it back in to shape so the brake handle fits snugly in between the inner plastic cover and the actual main cover - I hate it when the brake handle is flopping about from side to side:thumbdown:

The inner parts are just checked, cleaned, inspected and put back. When you refit it, make sure the band isn't rubbing on the clutch sprocket.

It is unusual for them to wear through - assuming it has!

    The offer still stands!

Ah ok, I remember you saying about heating it now.

Ill take it apart see what's broke :)

    Thanks :001_smile:

  5. That better not be the one I serviced a while ago:blushing:

Snapped brake band likely to be the usual suspect - if you are stuffed - run it in and will fix FOC apart from the part:thumbup:

    Oh...FOC=Free of Charge:thumbup1:

Yeah that one, I hardly used it :001_tt2:

Na, very kind but its ok I'm sure it's within my abilities just thought I'd ask as you know it.

Dare I ask the question- where to get parts now :/

    :) C

  6. The brake band is broken- the silver band that goes around the clutch drum.

    yes you are lazy

    Thanks

Yes I am :001_smile: that was what I assumed until I remember spud saying something about bending something back on my saw? Like the end of a spring or something.

  7. I'm just about to get a 1/3 roof added to mine..we've been getting a problem with the chips ramping and blowing over the top. Also, the tool box is great, but I'm having another 1 or 2 added where the outriggers are...need to separate saws from climbing kit etc!. Mine was built by KMR in Ipswich, its spot on and very light.

Does look spot on, a 130? Ever put it on a Weighbridge empty?

I found even with a 1/2 roof I get alot of spray about with my TW150- I have a full roof.

  8. 10 x 5. It will be about the same width as your ranger and a doddle to reverse in anywhere

But that's 3500kg, and the ranger can only tow 3000? So down plate the trailer to stay legal?

    I had an L200 so I went for a 2700kg 8x5.
