Your 130 will have the grunt.
However the downfall is the 130 is a bit all or nothing and doesn't like half throttle a great deal so you may have to try find a bit of a sweet spot in the throttle range and speed you work.

We call it rabbit flu around this neck of the woods. Its pretty widespread and wipes them out quickly.
We have the same problem, the rabbits aren't there to be had and its driven the price of rabbit up due to the shortage to almost double.
Up to a few years ago we would shoot 60-70 rabbits in an evening now we would be lucky to get 10-15 on the same farms.

Burn me at the stake but half the issues with the 4mix are as mixandgo says is the tank breather failing and causing a wet filter or particles of oil to block/stuff the air filter up. On kombi systems due to the angles they get used at make it 3 times worse.
I personally do away with the pipe from the breather to the air box. You can either just route the pipe somewhere different and let it vent to atmosphere or what I do is just fit an ms260 tank vent which doesn't have the vent nozzle. That beats most of the starting issues be it hot or cold.
Another 1/4 of the issues are obviously valve clearances and using 2 stroke they don't like.
The final1/4 is as spud says...

At what point can we say they're both bloody brilliant?
A year or so with good behaviour and no more recalls or common issues. Stihl dealers by then will be carrying a few spares on the shelf and there may be a few aftermarket spares around.

Actually I just noticed it has a non removable 4 way splitting blade so if your doing a lot of smaller rounds you will end lots of smaller stuff.
Also means on notty big rounds it could struggle to split them having a permanent 4 way fitted.
-
Theres a another company that sells hall splitters on ebay and also sell exactly the same splitter under a different name and colour (tractor splitters)
Fom my point of view I would question a few things.
A) why have a vertical/horizontal splitter if it still has be used at waist height which ever way you use it?? You will still have to lift big rounds to waist height.
B) That hydraulic tank looks a bit small but it doesn't state the size of the hydraulic pump so it would be interesting to see how well the hydraulic oil stays cool. Also being so compact and everything on top of each other wont help.
c) Personally I hate those small wheels and I bet your almost on the weight ratings for those tyres given the amount of steel, a diesel engine, oil etc involved.

That was a bummer, the rings and circlips are the weak points on the cheap pistons. It is worth fitting OEM clips and OEM/Caber rings on cheap pistons if that is the only option available. Live and learn.....usually the hard way:blushing:
Was just about to say the same but you beat me to it.
On a 084 buy the best you can. As already said if something does go wrong your in for an expensive ride with an 084 if it goes and damages the cylinder as there are no aftermarket cylinders available.
The 88/880 cylinder uses a different stud pattern so wont fit.
-
I maybe wrong.
GHS and sawbits both list pistons for the 880/084
STIHL 084 088 MS880 PISTON ASSEMBLY 60MM NEW
Be interesting to see if they do fit. (I have my reservations as was under the impression they had a different stroke length)
-
Ive never known of any aftermarket 084 piston/top ends.
They where still available thru main deal about £90 and nearly £400 a time last year.
Im pretty sure the 880 piston isn't the same.
The other short supply item with the is the starter assembly, if ever you find one snap it up for a spare.

It always used to be a Park Drive packet when I was a lad

Done a 394 last year then a 660 this year when they ran dry due to the 661 recall.
Both run as they should and par equal with factory built. (no reason why they shouldn't)
It is however an expensive way of doing it even importing quite a bit from the states and avoiding duty.

Hi….. I have a TimberPro multi tool ( don't laugh ) and it has been a bit of a pain to start it the last 3 months. When you pull the starter cord it will try and yank your arm off. It also refuses to stop running after starting , unless you rev the engine. Other than that , it has been sound .
I kinda suspect a timing issue ??
I took the flywheel off to check the flywheel key , for shear , but it was fine.
There are some deposits in the spark plug , not sure what.
Maybe there is too much oil in the mix , but I am pretty keen in that respect , making it " dieseling".
It seems quite a high compression.
52cc engine.
Any ideas anyone ????
Does usually tend to be a bit of a timing issue but also if its overloading with fuel (ie to rich or to much choke) can make them hard to pull over.
As a matter of interest what colour is the sparkplug when you pull it? Deposits would certainly mean rich or to much oil as a rule.

Snot Elpin
Gonna have to phone Jones tomora and see if they'll release one without me having to drive a thousand miles to collect it.....
Reckon you will struggle to get a new off the shelf 660 now
They where in pretty short supply before the 661 got rereleased back on the market as everyone bought them up.

got a bit of string here somewhere, how long is it?
Seriously tho, how old, how long has it been running a 24"? too much bar imo, and if its had a life of that it may need work imo.
Very true.
They made the original 365 upto 2002 then the 365 special 2002-2008 then the x-torq thereafter.
Most people I think (me included) probably class the 365 special as the best saw of all 3 models.
-
I do have a new one collecting dust lol
Im just to anal to use anything nice and shiney when theres an old saw capable of doing the job..

Quick update I got the thing started after a few pulls! I let it run up for a while and started a few times to make sure it's ok. I will give it a run tomorrow again to make sure it's ok fingers crossed.
Agg221 the rivers going down where we are but it normally empties into the Stour when it goes so may be coming your way
Great news.
Like you say try run it well and get it nice and hot and all should be fine.
-
Yup me to, to many.
Whilst I know we shouldn't I don't think it will happen until the times right and you get that frame of mind. I did buy an ecigarrete thing but coughed more than when I had a roll-up taking a puff.
Good luck on your quest.

Think you will be surprised how well the mild steel will last.
Despite what people say ive seen splitters with blades made out of mild steel and they have lasted the duration. No doubt there is some soft mild steels out there tho which ont stand the test.
If you do have to make another for whatever reason I may have some 12mm plate offcut laying around as ive been using it making up a splitter at present (depending what size you need obviously)

Jonsered or Echo is it then Andy:lol:
You forgot Makita

Certainly sounds like carb settings.
May pay to try tweak the h screw as you rev it see if it helps but remember your original setting.
That is provided you set the needle height and you have the gaskets/diaphragms fitted correctly?

I'm not a mechanic but dry out everything you can. Spark plug out and turn over to push out water. Check all terminals. Get a new air filter as the other one may still have damp in it. But I would say most of all check double check then check again.
Pretty much spot on.
Before you do anything take the plug out and pull it over to expel as much water as poss and shake any water out the exhaust. Also you can pour a teaspoon of 2 stoke oil or even wd40 thru the plughole to help prevent rust spotting on the rings.
Leave in a nice warm room for a day or so
Replace the fuel to.

Im gonna throw a cat amongst the pigeons (no its not me selling!!)
My local stealer has the 3120 new on the shelf for £920 + the dreaded vat total £1105 with a 36" bar.
Now said saw is only being sold with a 30" bar which the bar and chain over a 36" is prob £30 cheaper.
If said person was vat registered hes only paid £920 for the saw so hes only loosing £70 if it where 36" minus the £30 bar/chain difference could even only make it £40
However look at the other things he has for sale its makes you wander...
-
385/390 or 394/395
Agreed.
Could you help?

My first instinct is the fuel line needs replacing as they can go soft in time and they collapse in on themselves if its not a tank vent or carb issue.
