1. I need to replace a 353 that’s been a real reliable workhorse for some years. Not desperate but it’s starting to get a bit tired now. I was thinking a 550 xp would be it’s current equivalent?. Im starting to get cold feet with all the adverse comments though, and the saw sounds a bit fussy. If I buy a nice shiny new one, have all problems been ironed out?- or is there another equivalent workhorse to the 353 out there that I should consider?. Thanks for any tips.

Hi Dan

I know you posted over a year ago on this, but are you still happy with your combi KM94?

I'm just about to get something such as this to run a scrub cutter and a pole pruner, would the 94 be up to it?. The more powerful units such as the 130 put me off given all the 4 mix horror stories on here!. Many thanks for any info or advice on a good unit to get.

 3. Is this a blokes industry or are there any lady arbs out there?
 4. I'd have to have a bit of Peruvian marching gear to work at warp factor 5 to do that lot in a day
 5. Like all wood for burning and in particular a hardwood you've got to aim to mix your wood a bit. A good hardwood should be mixed with a fast or faster burning softwood to 'push' it along a bit then you'll get your hot burn from the hardwood. Birch is a good one to put with beech or oak for example but anything that is a seasoned softwood will do the job.
 6. I've used one of these a lot. They're incredibly productive and will generally split as fast as you can feed it onto the screw, unlike a ram splitter where you end up waiting around if you're not using the top of the power range ones. As for safety, this applies to everything in this business. You stay focused on what you're doing and use common sense. No matter what rules and regs the nanny state enforces on you, you still need to use common sense and a bit of the old natural grey matter.
