Sorry no, just local customers only. Those bark boxes and the like are stupidly loud, only suitable for forestry and not for domestic and commercial work in my opinion.

Where are you based? I travel around quite a lot during the year seeing friends and family so may be viable if that is an option ?

if it's got the stainless steel muffler, just remove it and dremel out the existing exhaust (out towards the front of the saw) an extra 10mm or 15mm or so

    Thanks,

not sure which one I’ll take a look and see when I am at the yard next time.

    Apologies for the terrible photos!

Lovely stuff, minimal shake like that you’ll find in all timbers. Even ring shake not to bad if making table tops.

Rot not an issue in this day and age. Very easy to work and stable.

these where air dried for a year and a half to 18% and I kilned them to 6-10%.

Seen someone selling boards similar to mine in size KD for £45 mine are more expensive than that green and so should yours. Average price I’ve seen Yew is £45 a cubic ft

  6. Two Yew trunks. These have been left laying in a customers wood for 10years the first picture and 13 years the second.

loss of sapwood however the heart wood was exceptionally hard going and very dusty. Minor decay in the centre board but overall excellent 👌

mean these on the F2 and the latter at 20” was at maximum width. The smaller trunk came in around 16”

My milling rate is £630 a day. I don't do part days. So a couple of small sticks like that gets expensive.
Same cost to mill two 20' by 4' cedar if I can do it in a day.

I paid £350 a day for man and woodmizer for a day on-site.

  8. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at making one. I now have the timber and a router and bits. And a friend who owns a glass shop.

can someone explain to me please what is the best way to secure the glass in the wood in the back?

and post any you have made, love to see various designs👍

  9. Not milling, but some off cuts of some of the lesser spalted burr horse chestnut boards that I have, just the small ones.

Thrown these in the kiln when it was open the other week.

dried to less than 5% in about 3 days and to be fair stayed pretty true to how they went in.

levelled off on my router sled.

    just water thrown on.

can’t wait to get the main boards in the kiln.

If you tried what I suggested you'd solve the problem and if you powered it with one of these you'd be able to vary the fan speed / airflow to whatever speed you wanted at different parts of the process.

    Cheers.

Edit. I not sure if these have a variable speed control, but you'll definitely be able to find one that has.

I already had soured my fans so wasn’t an option at that time.

As of yesterday I have no more water extraction from the kiln. I’ve had 15 litres of water out in total with negligible amounts for a thimble the past few days.

today is day 11 and have now turned the dehumidifier off and have started the heat schedule to 140*f and was at 131 when I left this morning.

humidity had plummeted to 18% and as the dehumidifier cannot extract that last amount I am running the extraction vent to exhaust any minor moisture.

once the 48hr cycle is completed the kiln will be left naturally to cool. 🤞

  12. This morning I was able to get some boards out of the kiln, mc figures where around 6-10% on average over a board that is 8ft x4. Few zones where slightly higher up to 12 where stickers had rested.

three boards have been readmitted for a bit longer. One was a thicker 3” board so as to be expected that wasn’t so dry and was reading 14% and the other two where around the 12 mark.

    overal very happy 😃

  13. Airflow is relatively important, to much and dried to quick and to little takes to long.

vanity fans as far as I could see had no volume figures available and those that did it was like a hurricane! I need to look in to my fan issues again as one has failed again, but that’s cheap fans from china for you.

I’m intending to use this gadget to measure the RH, temperature and MC - not expensive and seemingly well made, and you don’t need to open the box.

The Protimeter BLE is a compact battery-powered device that measures and logs Relative Humidity, Temperature and...

I use the inkbird humidity and heat controller, they can be found on popular sites.

Ok but the boards are quite a lot larger and in terms of quality, what are you referring to? I’m only asking, not challenging. emoji106.png

Sorry didn’t see they where 10ft.

like anything need to find a sale. I was happy for my 120 a piece as I only paid 40 for the log.

if rather take less money for them than having to home them somewhere until they do sell. Get on Facebook and see what’s selling locally
