I hope your climbing is going well? :001_smile:

I've got my CS39 course at Brampton Valley starting on Mon - can't wait. If the snow could hold off till I finish it that would be good.

I would say yes - just liked your page

Certainly if you consider e.g. 100 friends like yr page and can suggest their friends to and so on. It gives a quick link to see what you do and is free after all. Nice one

  3. Hi All,

We are looking for chainsaw operatives based in the Oxfordshire area, initially to support a new porject starting at the end of January.

We would require you to hold valid NPTC CS30 and 31 certifications. It would be preferable that you held a valid PTS certification although this is not vital as we are able to sponsor you through the 2 day course.

If are interested and hold the required tickets, please PM me.

    Thanks

    Tom

Hi Tom, did drop you a PM but you may have not had chance to respond.

    Regards, Alex

  4. Alright... I admit it... I was on vacation and a bit bored... you know how that goes when you can't cut trees... you've got to find something to do.. so stirring the pot over here had to do... I hope you all will find it in your hearts to forgive me

only messing - enjoy your time off mate :thumbup1:

  5. Too late for what... the saw did not get pinched. Cut started to close and I was able to feel it in time.. NO NO.... not too late... it was too early.. too early for the tractor, winch, or dynamite!

Hate to say it,. but you Brits are a bunch of prudes..

Well most of the time we aren't making claims to superior importance or insolently proud. Arrogant. Try humility...it feels awesome. People who learn more feel they always have more to learn.

How about maybe saying "I don't think you are quite right on that point. This may be a better option. Do you know what someone in another country might do?". Rather than saying 'yeeeeee hawwww we are top dog...go USA....go USA!!'.:biggrin:

    Just kidding :laugh1:

  6. just out of interest [decided i'm gonna get myself qualified this year] how high do you usually climb for your cs 38/39. i've climbed in past to about 40ft and got bad case of disco leg !!!! i know it only needs boundary pushing but one step at a time.

For CS38 I think we were up about 40ft. I got marked as 'tentative' on my ticket for CS38 but speed and confidence surely comes with time. I had big disco leg - kept making me laugh

  7. Well what i feel as my good points are i am hard working a keen learner start in the morning (7.30 to 8) every morning take a pride in my gear and in me and i don't give up that easy may seem like it but i take a step back and go on again.

What else can i say just if i could find some work i could take pics and make video and post on here to show every one that i am capable of doing the work.

This is much better :thumbup1: you've got to sell yourself with comments like these - nice one. Aim to get one day in with a company working for free and agree to take some pics and put them on here. That is a good start because everyone will put positive comments on them on here as they are awesome :001_smile:

  8. I am 33 so most charity group won't help as out side of the age range and as for you saying don't be a talker be a do'er i have been trying to do thing's all my life but something all ways stops me.

    And it is not me.

If someone takes the time to respond with a helpful suggestion be grateful and positive in response. You never know how they could help in the future and it's also professional.

You can do it. The info is out there on every aspect of Arb work and guys on here are very helpful. Ask where you could be going wrong the next time someone says yr not right for a position to develop yourself.

    Best of luck, Al

  9. Why are you looking to work for someone else? I think IIRC that you are not a young un, but mature? Why not source work that you know you can do in your area. Ok it may not be all tree felling, or climbing work, but even if its raking leaves or mulching borders, it's all work. A good friend of mine is a jobbing gardener, he has been since he left school and he just turned 60. I turned up at a job not long before Xmas and went to his shed at the property for a brew. He literally burst into tears, he had just lost his driving licence due to glaucoma. He didn't know how he could get to work, how he would keep his clients. He was miserable. With a couple of calls to CAB and the local Job Centre + I had him sorted with a taxi to and from his sites, he has to pay some and the government pick up the rest of the tab. There are ways around everything, never say never.

Xmas period is always tough for everyone, many shut down for a fortnight, winding down prior to this. Many properties are flooded out this year, they aren't going to be too worried about their treesa and hedges when they are sorting that out.

Nice positive story :001_smile: that's a really cool thing to do for a mate Andy.

You just have to take the hits in life and diversify or get washed up. People also remember and want to work with positive people who do their best all the time in whatever industry/trade. Good luck everyone for 2013 :001_smile:

  10. I'm guessing you've tried Rob and Hailey at Oakleaf.

Are you waiting to get your tickets before applying for jobs? Getting tickets is only a small part of getting on. If you're any good, a decent employer will fund your training.

If you've only just got your tickets you're less likely to be commercially viable straight away, so get some time in on the tools.

Are you in employment currently or actively seeking a job/career?

Hi Paul - I'm currently in an office based job but have started to get weekend work and booked my annual leave to get some days/weeks experience. I am seeking employment but transport is an issue. I am currently ahead of my schedule as come along way this year. My plan is to move to Arb work full time in April (I will have saved enough for a vehicle by then) due to probable drop in income as a groundie. If the right role comes along for the right money before I am out of the office though.... Thanks for the advice :thumbup1:
