  1. We are a small company who undertake both domestic and commercial tree and landscaping work. We are based in the Tyne Valley, Northumberland. We are looking for an experienced and qualified climber, who is capable of leading a team from time to time. A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience is preferable. The job would be on a sub-contractual basis, with a minimum of 3 days available per week. The work is varied; we undertake large tree work; pruning and dismantling, site clearance work, domestic works, small forestry contracts, tree planting etc. and garden and landscaping works. The role would be a mix of ground based and working at height. Some of our contracts require working away from the area for periods of up to one month, excluding weekends. The following skills and qualifications are essential: NPTC / Lantra qualifications Driving License The following skills and qualifications would be desirable: Any related college qualifications [*]Experience of undertaking written Risk Assessments, and working to Method Statements [*]IPAF [*]LGV license [*]Trailer Licence [*]First Aid [*]Health & Safety Qualifications [*]Chapter 8 Traffic Management [*]EUSR [*]Machinery Maintenance Experience.   3. It was mentioned to me by a large construction contractor who are trying to roll out a blanket 'flame retardant' PPE requirement
  4. Just wondering how many people have had the requirement for flame retardant clothing whilst undertaking treework. There doesn't appear to be much information about whether our current chainsaw gear is retardant or not.. Stihl Hi-flex trousers say they are 'heat resistant'. Is there any brands that make flame retardant and chainsaw protective clothing, or is it a case of wearing an overall to add just another layer whilst working!!? Any thoughts or solutions to this would be appreciated!
