  1. I just keep my face shield down on my helmet. Even cheaper than buying ebay flaps
  2. First of all I would give them a hefty fine for letting all that Ivy get up into that tree like that. Sinful! Haha
  3. Imagine if that was a BMW owner. He/She would have been out shouting obscenities that you had got saw dust all over his pristine car that he/she had just had valeted and wants £100 to get it washed.........
  4. You would think they would update their data specs. Should Greenmech be sending out this information to all the companies so that it doesn't happen?
  5. Just had a reply from SMK. They have been done to the wrong angles. According to their OEM Spec its 15degrees rather than 10. Back they go.
  6. Is it me or am I just not doing something right? Recently had my knifes re sharpened by Saturn Machine Knifes. Have put them on and adjusted the anvil so there is a credit card sized gap. Still doesn't pull the brash through as it should. I widened it slightly and felt slightly better but wont touch the larger branches, just rubs. Also when it pulls in the small material it doesn't seem as fast as what it used to be. Have sent an email to SMK asking them to tell me what angles they were ground to so hopefully hear back from them soon. Any ideas from you guys? Chipping is not fun like this Ross.
  7. It might be the emergency off switch on top of the feed chute. Pull it up to make sure its not down (even when its down it doesn't clearly look down). ive done this a few times before realising the emergency button was on.
  8. Cheers for the reply Bob the Dog. Think my local place has sharpened them to the wrong angles again so im going to send them to Saturn. Hopefully they will do them properly. Will give them the angles in with the blades to make sure they do them to the correct angles.
  9. Thought I would just add to this thread than open a new one. Whats the lowest the blades can be ground down to? Don't want to send them off to be ground if there then going to be too small. The knifes width is 47mm, the width on top (where the bolts go through) is 15mm.
  10. Do we get to see the other images throughout the year? Don't want to be disappointed a few months down the line and have to send it back and get something else........
  11. Would it be possible to make the discharge chute lower by cutting off about 12" from the base and re-welding it without voiding the warranty? If I were to buy a new machine from dealer could they do it? Reason for doing it is that I would have to modify my truck which is the more expensive and way more effort.
  12. I would say 2.5" and bigger and you have to help push it through. Blades are on their third sharpen so have put the shim in. I chipped a dead Walnut a few months ago and it ruined a near new set. Was like chipping concrete looking at the blades afterwards! Good little machines these but I would say the running costs are not good compared to getting a 6" fed chipper. Blades are expensive and don't last very long, takes a long time to chip a pile and still have a pile of brash to take away as gets contaminated with general crap on the floor.
  13. Just changed my blades over on mine. Chips all the small stuff fine. Pulls them out of your hands. But struggles a bit on the bigger stuff. Would this mean the anvil gap in slightly too big/small? Looks to me like the gap is what its supposed to be and chips look normal.
  14. Just been to see a customer about their fruits trees. 80-90% of fruit on most of their trees infected with maggots inside them. They said last year 2 of the trees had a white fur on them which im assuming will be Wooly Aphid by their description. Also last year she said they could see something that looking like 2ladybirds joined as one on the trees. They have a chicken coop next to the main fruit trees if that makes a difference. Any help be much appreciated. Ross.
  15. My local will only allow 2 jerry cans unless they cant see them, so I fill them in the back of Transit away from view.
  16. Saturn Machine Knifes do do them. They just don't state it on their website.
  17. It comes with the U Bolts so hopefully they are the correct size. I will get them sprayed with WD40 tomorrow so they can soak over the next few days. Ross.
  18. Cheers guys. Just ordered myself two extra springs. £95+vat each, which I thought was good. Heard around that it would cost like £400-£500. Now just got to wait for them to arrive and see how easy they are to fit. Any tips? Ross.
  19. Does anyone know of where I can source helper leaf springs for my VW Crafter Tipper? Even with a small amount of weight its sitting on the axel which isn't great. Only comes with 2 springs so would be better with a third in the middle. Based in West Sussex so around this area would be best.
  20. Haha. Like how you climb to the rescue then throw the helicopter out of the tree.
  21. Found a brand new camera tripod in bag and an old film camera in the same bag. Gave the camera to a photography friend to see if there was anything on the film but still waiting for him to develop it. Tripod gets used fairly often.
  22. Just asking for some input towards this Oak that a customer wants to be taken down. It has a TPO so he is trying to get council approval for it to be removed but wants to be armed with some expert knowledge. It has been pollarded in the past a few times by the looks of it due to being in a small cul-de-sac and having phone lines running through/over it. It has a large amount of rot going up the trunk (very soft) and the root is non existent underneath this section. Also has a tear wound on one limb and has rot within that area. He's not interested in it being re-pollarded to reduce weight. He just wants it gone. Attached are a few photos. He also reckons it vibrates when the bin lorry comes down the road and goes over the roots. Sorry for the sideways photos. Doesn't want to turn them the right way round
  23. Easy cheap effective way. Crab the scabbard to harness. Then use starter cord attached between the handle of Silky and the scabbard. Using elastic cord is just stupid. Hello Silky to the face when that pings back at you!
  24. Mine were around the £160 mark inc vat. Greenmech want about £250 I think it was?
