  5. sounds to me like lip service from the government so their rich/developer mates can do what they want. no! i dont think replacing ancient woodland by planting in other areas will compensate very much,as it will take many years to get back lost diversity etc

I wouldnt expect anybody to "run" back from the chipper, but not arse around and i agree that you can drag more than one branch, unless its heavy. im 42 and often get younger guys working with me,youve just gotta try n teach em the best you can. ie pass on experience, its up to them whether they take it on.

  9. yep! thought that too, summer branch drop and root failure happen in very different ways i thought. Gardeners should stick to gardening...
  10. the Allerton oak is over 1200 old and stands a little way down the path from the back of the house. It has many local legends attached to it and was one time used as a local court.
  11. check the bit that says endorsements, who has the power to do that then?
  12. i think the wood could eventually be affected by repeated, yearly attacks from the pathogen and bark splitting causing cracking, maybe?
