The echo will come out cheapest without a doubt and capable. You can get the CS 362 wes which is the 2511 bigger brother. As said the 4310 is good. As for the big brands, it's to early to say about 540xp over the MS201C-M. It is £100 cheaper though.

Our MS500i has a load of play on the clutch side - the main bearing is basically goosed. Before I buy another has anyone else had this issue or have we just been unlucky?
I’ll get something else if these are made of the same cheese as the MS261…
Think we've had one for a main bearing failure, maybe two. Most of them come in for the clutch, I personally think it should be bigger. Maybe from the 661. Had some of them come in where it had blown through the drum (clutch) and knackered the crankcase. The bearing in question is about £14. So not much if you can do it yourself. Just need to make the shaft isn't worn

Vaguely related to this thread, I've just got a new chain for my MS 261, as I damaged a drive link or two when it came off a day or two ago. I run a 14" bar on it, basically it's the one for the MSA 300 and while looking, I found out that it's a full chisel. ( Apparently ). Seems odd to me, I hope I can just sharpen it normally as I would a semi chisel, normal round files.
Any thoughts or advice on this gratefully received as always.
Standard 3/16 - 4.8mm files for those

I use the EXL on all my Huskys and go through a fair few chains. Defo learn how to sharpen them without a guide. Not that hard once you get the hang of it.
I find the rakers to be quite high on the EXL full chisel stuff that I use.
Also order plenty files, as the reel of that stuff is absolutely hellish on files for the first sharpen. There seems to be a lot of material to remove before you get the file up and around the cutter.
I would advise Vallorbe files as they are far better than Oregon.
I agree with the Vallorbe files, far better than Oregon. I think they've been through a better hardening process, not much difference in price either

Husqvarna tend not to replace warranty items for some reason. We get far more of them coming back than the Stihl chargers. Not sure what the problem is. I've had 3 come back this week. Our problem is people won't take the knackered ones home and we have to get rid of them. Got about 40 sat around waiting for disposal. It's the same with batteries. We get far more Husky ones coming back than Stihl and they are also sat around waiting for disposal. Neither Stihl or Husqvarna can give us a clear answer on how to get rid of them. It's rather frustrating 😒

If you like the mk2 you'll like the mk3. It feels better balanced imo, I was never a fan of the older offerings. The top handle feels better to hold aswell. Not used it in anger yet though

If the graveyards are anything like I've done in the past you need a narrow one.

Some folk say they find it difficult to sharpen semi over full chisel, I can't understand why tbh. Might just be there sharpening skills. I wonder if these files are set for Stihl chain only? Might be worth trying the Stihl 1.5mm chain? Husqvarna have numerous different filing kits for different chains, even when it's the same gauge and pitch.

Not sure on Alberta or BC. If you fancied Ontario, have a look Diamond Tree Care. They've got a fast amount of equipment. A couple of big crane's, multiple bucket trucks as their known there. I believe there quite happy to take British workers as they've had more than one.

I've had my 135 for over 10 years and it's done lots of firewood with very few problems and none of them major, still runs
I'm not slating them completely. We get more folk coming back with the little Husqvarna's with problems than the Stihl's. That's all 👍. Glad yours has treated you well 😊

Not sure on where they were built off the top of head. All I know is the 180 has a slightly bigger piston. Maybe 1mm similar to the ms181/211 where I think it's 2mm

Handled a 162 today. Horrible.
That doesn't surprise me 😁. The 170 and 180 it's replaced were horrible aswell. What's the solid nose bar like?

The theory is that Stihl and Husky make their money on this stuff rather than the pro saws, they sell many more of these than the pro saws.
But, they sell them because the average Joe sees Stihl and Husky stuff in the hands of the pros and equates the brand with quality.
MaCulloch made the mistake of dumping their pro saw range years ago in favour of the homeowner stuff and lost out because the public lost faith in the brand.
I read it somewhere but it makes sense.
It was most likely Electrolux that ruined Mcculluch IMO

It just seems a cosmetic 'upgrade', plus for the casual user more cc looks better.I can see what's in it for stihl-interchangable top covers etc in the whole range,so simplified parts supply and so on.But taking a look at the 182 for instance-its heavier than the old 181 with a miniscule hp/kw power gain.
But they look good and the right branding appeals no doubt. Therefore they will sell well I think.
It's wasn't any different 171 to 211 versions. Pretty much the same body etc just more power

We had a customer who kept coming back with his for oiling issues. I believe they've updated the pump or the worm(I can't remember which) he got it changed and the saw hasn't been back

I made something similar, but out of a pallet and some uprights. Probably lasted a couple of years and just made another one when it was knackered. All free aswell. It helps when you have a big saw, with a long bar! The Portek saw horse has some weight to it unlike some copies.

That is interesting . I could read it ok . not a real problem . I think I am slightly dyslexic . . So 55% can and 45% can't . Its great what your brain can help you with . I don't see it as a joke though . You need to write a proper joke in this fashion . Then it would be interesting . 55% of the people would be able to read it but what percentage would get the joke 🙂
I read that perfectly aswell, also dyslexic.

I'm on the canned stuff. I find tastier than the bottled stuff

I use Stihl varioclean and superclean for mine. The varioclean is great for washing the air filter and casing. The Superclean gets used on the silkys, hedgecutters and bars. Aswell as other metal items that get covered in sap.

If you're after chainsaw boots, have look at the Crispi Forst. Very light and durable from what I've be told. I can't comment to much as I don't own a pair

I was looking earlier and turns out a Husqvarna 120 is only £160 so I guess they wanted something to compete on price with that. The 120 is 38cc and 1.4kW though so chunk more power and roller tip bar.
I'm tempted to get one just for fun, so cheap.
It will break. We try not to sell them tbh. The domestic range of Husqvarna isn't the best

Someone being diagnosed with cancer isn’t comedy though, whoever they are.
Young lad at work tried making a joke about it all yesterday, including other types of cancer and this was in front of the boss( just been through a rare type of breast cancer, and he's the inlaw) The boss didn't say a word, but wasn't best pleased and walked off. As he's that sort of bloke. What makes it worse the lad's partners mother has stage 4 breast cancer. All I can say it struck a nerve with me and he nearly ended up with the breaker bar wrapped round his head. He tried justifying his words with some shitty argument, but it didn't cut it. He's a very clever lad, but numb as

The echo saws are a lot better than they used to be. Can you get the CS390sx?
