  1. I don't quite follow your point there Jesse, I TOTALLY agree that media in the front line is not always best. No disrespect from me on your stance!
  2. Col Tim Collins, an inspirational leader of the modern military era, also (wrongly) condemned by the media for allegedly "mistreating" Iraqi civilians. Easily forgotten (or un news worthy) that the maggot he pistol whipped was responsible for a cache of concealed weapons.
  3. Don't think it worked, try YouTube "you can't handle the truth" Change the scenario and there you go....
  4. Not sure if this will link:
  5. Press (and personal recording devices) in the front line is the problem. Col Nathan R Jessup (Jack Nicholson) A Few Good Men sums it up nicely.
  6. What about night time cramp? Sorry a bit off topic. I've had nights went I jumped out of bed got my leg up on the banister and think the femur is going to shatter with the stress mostly after several hard days climbing. Double leg cramp has left me crying on the floor!
  7. To be fair, it's more of a UKIP strong hold! Farage on QT last night talked some sense, as usual, but, whilst I value the party's stance on "managing" inward immigration, I'm at a loss to understand the anti renewable energy stance and pro fracking. Now THATS a derail!
  8. That's not a derail! It's very relevant but I have to keep my powder dry for the next salvo (if required) and the lead shot issue was a brainwave I hadn't considered.
  9. Thanks Ted! We've done the sit down, and I'm previously acquainted with the syndicate captain (we did DSC1 together and he's ex RM so it's been amicable thus far) if they've taken onboard my input life in the valley will be rosy!
  10. It's a "closed" "old school" shoot Dean, no guests! Just the "good ol' boys" and that's probably the root cause of the problem, "I've been doing this for years" "I own as far as the eye can see" sort of brigade.
  11. That's the bottom line - thumb up!
  12. That's why I raged, it's not about me, I was in the garden with daughter.
  13. I'm feeling like I've "ranted it all out" which, along with hoping for any practical suggestions, was the main reason for posting it up. I'm getting my balance back now, slowly but surely.
  14. To quote the reply Mike "we will do all we practically can" which is about as good as it gets I guess. The difficulty I foresee is that there are favoured firing positions either side of a wooded area surrounding a lake - perfect Mallard territory. The difficulty may be that the lake is approx 200m from the house so firing from the far side towards the house is less than 300m which is minimum safe recommend distance. We'll have to wait and see what happens next.
  15. Yes, and followed up by email for record.
  16. To keep it in perspective (which I've been struggling to do - threat to my child = I'll come out fighting like a mongoose with hangover), it would be unlikely that serious injury would be caused by falling shot. However, if you were looking up and spent shot caught you in the face (you'll have someone's eye out with that - tongue in cheek) there is the potential for injury. What would you do, wait until your child was blinded before complaining? Heaven forbid if it DID cause injury, I'd make the Texas chainsaw massacre look like a flower arranging class in comparison! As an aside, I was in Saddam's palace the night Iraq won a football match in the 2004 Olympics, it was like the entire population were loosing off AKs into the air, one round came back to earth, through the container roof and embedded in the floor of our accommodation (40ft ISO container)
  17. They can be sanctioned by BASC for unsafe procedures, potentially receive a warning letter (first instance) (and potentially become the focus of attention) from the firearms licensing dept of the constabulary, and be investigated by HSE (breach of agricultural information sheet No. 43). All of which would be the type of attention that only ever ends in hassle that could simply be avoided. I'm a shooter & stalker myself, can you imagine the hassle if they were shooting into a bunny huggers garden?
  18. PS, Jon, don't think 'it's not to do with you' fella, I posted it up in public forum and invited comments, all comments are welcome and valued. If I don't get it off my chest I'll just build a head of steam!
  19. Tried that first Jon. They have been totally blaze and can't seem to understand my position. This is the 2nd time it's happened mind. First time I was home on my own, this time, my little princess was in line of fire and that'll bring me out swinging every time. I've kept my enquiries with plod/BASC/HSE 'informal' at this stage in the interests of maintaining good neighbourly relations but if it ever happens again I want to know exactly where to take it. They were shooting TOWARDS my house from within 200m. That's just damn stupid and unsafe but they thought I was being unreasonable. I can't say it, but returning one back down the bearing would probably highlight the stupidly of their actions but that would lower me to their standard which I can't allow.
  20. Thanks guys! I was sitting in the garden with 2YO daughter on her swing as neighbouring shoot rained shot on us. To be fair, my reaction was to offer to insert the SG into the nearest shooter (been a while since I've had a full on red mist moment) Spoken to BASC and constabulary and waiting to hear back from HSE (RIDDOR 8(1) - not sure about that one) Certainly contravenes BASC para 3 code of good shooting practice and HSE "safe use of guns" and even more worrying, for supposedly experienced shooters, they had no concept of safety distances / arcs. Previously V good relations with neighbour but fall of shot in garden when daughter is out and an obvious lack of firearms safety awareness is enough to push my buttons. I'm still proper raging inside 24hrs after event. Venting off here is part of my "anger management" pressure valve!
  21. Made I Larf! I'll keep an eye on the thread and chip in when I've un jumbled my thoughts!!
  22. Really sorry if this is a duplicate but I can't find the 2 previous attempts I made to start this question via IPhone. Thought I'd have a go from laptop and see if that works. Advice from any ATers with shooting experience appreciated. A driven shoot, fall of shot landing in neighbouring property. A contravention of para 3 BASC code of practice but is there a legal implication? Any thoughts appreciated.
  23. Beauty! I can think of a couple of people's bathroom I want access to...
  24. Im starting the personal development days early!
