  1. This one is a beauty! Chips - You can av em in a tray but not a cone in case you burn yourself. If they are THAT hot they shouldn't be serving them because they are going to be eaten! http://www.hse.gov.uk/myth/myth-busting/2014/case312-chips-can-not-be-served-in-paper-cone.htm?eban=govdel-myths&cr=04-Sep-2014
  2. Using the calculator, mine comes in @ 23.8k over 7yrs. Imagine how cheeky that would have been at the original tariff and over 20yrs (index linked) which is what was touted 2-3 years ago!

  4. Callum, I hear a few alarm bells in what you're saying there, it may be the way you're typing it? First worry, you DO NOT qualify for RHI if EPC /green deal assessments record a deficiency in mandatory specs - mindful of a couple of exclusions (cavity wall insulation in solid stone walls for example). If the info you have is from boiler sales staff / installers or green deal assessment providers, I'd say be wary, they both have a vested interest. I'm quite keen on this subject and have researched a fair bit and, most importantly, have no vested interest, more than happy to have a yap on phone if you think it's any value!
  5. You're absolutely right there! On the mainland, and I guess NI will replicate, the original BS from DECC was a 20 yr term and a generous tariff for domestic. Having had their fingers burned with overly generous PV tariffs, the domestic RHI has been delayed >2yrs but is finally upon us. It's now a 7 yr term and is calculated, AFTER submission of a current / valid EPC AND green deal assessment (+/- £150) Using those documents, a calculation is made of the Heating / hot water requirements for that dwelling, the tariff is based upon that, not the size of the boiler. You've been on this subject a while Marcus, you know your onions I think!
  6. Be funny if that guy reads this thread and fills in details of the job....!
  7. I think you may have the "old" figures there Marcus - certainly the timeframe is the original spec which took 2 years to come to fruition and has been scaled back from 20 to 7 years. I'll have a closer look at figures later and get exact detail. My RHI app is going in next week. There is a "calculator" which gives rough estimate on DECC website, I'll find the link and post it up.
  8. Like "hunger games", but use lazy, stoner, non-running back from the chipper, standing on ropes, talking on mobile groundies,,,,,,??
  9. Health & safety "officials".... Does that mean representatives of the HSE or does it mean H&S reps for that council? Be interesting to see if this appears on the HSE "Myth busters" page: http://www.hse.gov.uk/contact/myth-busting.htm
  10. My poor description but I bow to your greater knowledge! I also got a rocket from Mrs J, as she put it "if that's all you've got to moan about.... It could be a lot worse, at least it's not crack heads and aled up idiots shouting, singing and smashing cars!" All very true! I'm thinking it must be this years brood, fledged and out of the nest, starting to establish individual hunting grounds? Definitely 3 individual hooters tonight and a screecher. Would that be the 1 adult and 3 babies?
  11. I wasn't so keen on the barn owl sat outside my bedroom window having a hooting contest with his oppo across the field through the small hours of last night!!
  12. Old owner gets refund for any full months left to run, new owner has to tax from start of the month in which they buy the car!
  13. Not anymore...... Don't need any of that old far at Post Office nowadays...
  14. Frank at Home - wood-centre.co.uk (Kelly Bray) or Jeremy at Cashen Cornish Woodcraft : About Us (Tideford Cross) both great guys!!
  15. Technically...... an infringement of the Countryside and Wildlife Act ( intentionally— (a)kills, injures or takes any wild bird;), but..... In the greater scheme of things, if this bloke can walk free from court: Farmer who earned £283,000 from illegal landfill site walks free from court - Wales Online it's unlikely you'll be getting the dawn knock..... After all, this bloke didn't even face a trial, just call it collateral damage!
  16. Personally, I don't recognise the term "arb waste." For me, it's just not waste, it heats my house!! (Except Eucalyptus if it's got a twist in it, that just ain't worth the effort!
  17. Judith Hackitt's 'Risk Assessment' - A sting in the tale
