  1. Never fails to get me chuckling! This one should be in the "crazy customer comments" thread too!
  2. Whereabouts Rex? Might be able to throw some action your way if you're South East (Cornwall!) Talk off line, PM if you're interested??
  3. a. Tick b. Tick c. Tick you didn't mention d. but I think we have our own ideas on d....!
  4. Chimney sweep due on Thursday, that'll be my defence against the wife moaning it's cold gone! Mother-in-law due to visit next week, that means it'll be so bloody hot my eyeballs dry up and she'll still be sitting there in a jacket!
  5. Latest HSE update for petrol storage: The Petroleum (Consolidation) Regulations 2014 (PCR), which came into force on 1 October 2014: http://www.hse.gov.uk/fireandexplosion/portabable-petrol-storage-containers.pdf
  6. Fair do's fella, sounds like you're between a rock and a hard place! There could be options / alternatives but you're best placed to know what to do. Didn't mean to get your back up.
  7. That's not what I meant, apologies if it came across that way. To answer your question, no, I can't take the timber - maybe if closer, who knows. It's just that your post, whilst asking a very specific question, caused me to think about a different issue. It happens all the time with many threads. I guess it can be frustrating for the person that makes the original post but it also (sometimes) leads onto to broader discussions - some informative, some humorous, some pointless, etc, etc but it happens. Dare I say, it even happens sometimes that I wish I'd just skipped over a post rather than getting sucked in! Apologies for taking a slightly tangential direction from your original question. I don't mean to cause offence by asking the question I asked. Perhaps if I start a new thread something like - "Have you been asked to fell a tree prior to a formal planning application being submitted in order to avoid the possibility of a TPO (perhaps more cleverly worded) would be a better place to explore the issue. And the reason I asked the question is simply because I recently received a similar request. I had a look through Minors, talked to few people and made my decision. The Sun reading comment wasn't meant for you at all, that's why I rolled the eyes back....!
  8. Rolling your eyes back in case you need them.... Yes, the statement "redevelopment of the site" has already been made, that is in no way missed or misunderstood. It doesn't however answer the obvious 2nd / 3rd level question that anything other than a Sun reader might ask. In fact, it's become so overtly obvious that the question "is this a fell prior to a planning app" is being avoided, that it seems to lend considerable weight to the assumption that that may be the case. If that is the case, it may not be illegal (depending upon broader relevant factors (which we don't know)) but it "could" be considered disingenuous by a planning officer and (only my personal view) seems rather a shame. Maybe the land owner / arb operative lack the social, ecological, professional and moral capacity (or will) to explore options that might facilitate retention. It's all getting pointless, if OP is unable, unwilling, uncomfortable answering the question, so be it. Just cut the tree down and get on with your life.
  9. I did in #10. "Is this a fell before planning app goes in" (you could read into that, to avoid a TO's scrutiny of the site and existing trees) but that would be an assumption which I tried to avoid by saying, "notwithstanding lack of background info." Plenty of folk here make a living from felling trees (and processing quality timber) so no criticism intended, it just seems (notwithstanding lack of background info) a tree that might otherwise have been worthy of retention. Just humour me, is it a fell before planning app or is there more to it?
  10. Think there might be a pic in 'show us your log piles' thread
  11. Wise words, unless you've got McDonalds style legal firepower better off just crack on and do your thing.
  12. Agreed, there was no response to the question in #10. It happens... Maybe one of the TOs on the forum will see it and take an interest, stranger things have happened.
  13. Hardly an incentive to move away from traditional systems and fossil fuels - pretty poor show!
  14. Don't wear your best jacket to a horse sale! He'll know exactly what he's doing!
  15. Whilst understanding your angst, you'll probably remember when you set up, checking Companies House to see if the name you choose was already taken. If not, away you go. Maybe he's a shyster, maybe he's a genuine guy. Can't see there's much you can actually do about it either way. Tough call.
  16. Just been watching vids on YouTube. Just makes you think, you have to look after yr health / well being, everything else is secondary! I'm not suggesting that quote applied to JP, but I like to read it occasionally just to remind myself.
  17. Bang on John! Couldn't remember the name but as soon as you said it. He's died from fungal spore??? That's bloody harsh! Puts my NPower bill into a more acceptable perspective.

    Rats!

I'll be super grumpy if it's weeks! Not good with sleep depravation! High winds tonight, so that'll be Beech nuts rattling off the roof, mice in the loft, baby waking up.... Already getting grouchy at the thought of it..... Where's the single malt!

    Rats!

Little bstards had me awake last night running around the loft. All baited up now but prob a day or 2 of sleepless nights before they die off. Temp has only dropped a touch and there're in already!
  20. There was a chap in France (forget the name), was running a 3 heap system to provide heating/hot water. Coil of pipe buried in the pile used to extract passive heat. 3 piles in a barn, 1 active / in use, one being built with a coil in it ready to change over and 1 expended pile ready to be heaved out of the shed. Now there's a thought if you were a chip producer, whilst the chip is laid up waiting collection you could be heating the house / green house / work shop etc??
  21. Had a quick look, can't find the arb arisings reference but I'm 100% certain it is SPECIFICALLY included, I recall reading it and making a mental note. I will look harder tomorrow!
  22. Here's some detail on self supply, still looking for the doc that included arb arisings as a qualifying fuel source.... I know it's here somewhere! https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/358301/Biomass_Sustainability_Requirements_-_Info_Sheet_-_Sept_2014_FOR_PUBLICATION__3_.pdf
  23. Theres a help line number here: https://www.gov.uk/government/policies/increasing-the-use-of-low-carbon-technologies/supporting-pages/renewable-heat-incentive-rhi I'll have to finish my pizza and have a look for the doc I remember reading about arb arisings - bear with me!
  24. Arb arisings are specified as a qualifying fuel for DRHI. I'll find the link it you need it.
