  1. Ground works of that type isn't something I'd want to take the lead on but I'd work harder than any paid labourer for someone that knew what they were doing! You know (I hope) full well, you'd have a comfy bed, good food, fair fold and a laugh! So when should I expect to see you?
  2. Some info and further links here: http://www.woodlands.co.uk/blog/flora-and-fauna/wild-boar-and-woodland-regeneration/# I'm not well read in but the overarching concept holds appeal for me.
  3. Not sure I understand the question. It's not just AIA, there are other considerations but wouldn't want to discuss in open source for obvious reasons.
  4. There's a few jobs to do before that Mr E! Ground floor is still soil & concrete from the cattle pens which needs to be dug out and a new pad cast in. Guess what I'm doing over Christmas! Just hoping I don't need to under pin it.
  5. That's the result of MY blistered and worn hands Mr P! (And a singleminded determination to spend it rather than give anything to the w⚓️'s at HMRC!!) So my wages for 48 weeks in 15/16 was £31.25/week....
  6. That's a summary of it in 1 sentence!!
  7. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/dec/06/england-deforestation-state-lack-tree-planting Bloody yuppy wood burner fashionista!! They'll be the end of us all!!
  8. My premium went DOWN with Mrs J added as a named driver..... There is some proper crazy logic in the insurance game!
  9. The cause of the problem is the flail rather than the Sycamore!
  10. Just put a Nextbase 512G dash cam in the truck. Too soon for a review but Mrs J saw it and the first thing she said was "you're not putting one of those in my car, I'm not having you watching my driving!" http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/nextbase-512g-1080p-dash-cam-a20tx
  11. Turning circle ridiculous in a good way rather than a bad way I'm guessing?? Cracking looking truck.
  12. I think I read that the absence of trailer MoT style test is down to the lobbying power of the Caravan club....
  13. I have had a trailer come away once before. Can't figure how it happened. Part way through a journey, pulled away from a standing start at a roundabout and off it came. Brake away snapped but did it's job by applying the brake. Always check and double check now, even stop part way in a journey to check.
  14. Thought some folks might be interested to contribute to this DVSA safe towing campaign. There's a link at the bottom. 3-year-old Freddie Hussey was killed by an unsafe trailer. Freddie’s parents are urging all drivers to carry out basic safety checks each time they tow a trailer to avoid further tragedies. You don’t need to be someone who tows trailers to help. Sign up to our Thunderclap campaign to help spread the message. Thunderclap posts a one-time message to your Facebook or Twitter account at a specified time - in this case, Wednesday 7 December at 8:30pm. This is so the cause starts to ‘trend’ on social media websites, so more people become aware of it. You’ll be helping to save lives if you sign up. https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/50569-save-lives-towsafe4freddie
  15. Just read the link... This bit caught my eye: At the time of the investigation the council were issued with an improvement notice, as soon as they started to rectify the problem and implement the appropriate health surveillance a further 15 cases of ill-health relating to vibration exposure were identified and reported to HSE. Thanet District Council pleaded guilty of breaching Regulations 6(2) and 7(1) of the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 and was fined a total of £250,000 and was ordered to pay £18,325.84 in costs. There's a funny old thing, a sudden rush on Dr's appointments after the implications had been highlighted.... On the one hand I'm thinking - a public sector employer should of course be setting the highest of standards in worker protection and if they've failed they should be held to account, but, which council can afford to fritter away >£¼ million that wouldn't be better spent on public services? So what does "holding to account" actually mean? Was someone fired? If not the financial penalty to the council actually only equates to a penalty being passed on to the general public as budgets are squeezed even tighter and public money is extracted from one government department to be passed to another and the only loser is Joe Public who ends up with less services or higher council tax. What "penalty" is that for inadequate management? Or, on the other hand, was it a sudden rush to the Dr's in search of a compo payout?
  16. Anyone else see that piece? Is there someone on the team at Countryfile looking for ways to make me shout at the TV? Did they really use the tired and inappropriate catchphrase "farmers are the custodians of the countryside" in the same sentence as saying agriculture is the new front line of pollution? Was that whole article just designed to wind me up??
  17. Get beside the fire is what I find works best!
  18. Id say the turn around time from the LA receiving a valid submission would be the same regardless of who submits it. Problem 'could' be if the homeowner submission doesn't contain sufficient detail to qualify as a valid submission, but it's not exactly difficult if the published guidance is followed. So, if a valid and qualifying submission, time should be same regardless who submits it?
  19. That made I larf.... Then I felt a little unwell!
  20. I'm kicking myself for getting drawn in! Never mind, it could be worse, there'll be 10s of thousands of blokes out there arguing about football right now. At least it's not as pointless as that!
  21. It's not intended as an attack, more of a gentle poke. I hope we've had enough jousts to realise it's not personal. You're putting a point across (as delusional as it may be at times) and there is due respect for that.... Now pass the laptop back to Doris, she's wanting her Saturday night solitaire fix!
