  1. Have you seen the recent "non tree related legal advice" thread? Sounds like a good chance to offer some advice. 👍
  2. Sounds like an unscrupulous employer to me - discriminating against those with a whole brain! 😂
  3. Some similarities with a circumstance I had recently Chris. Received the letter giving notice of the intention to issue a TRN dated X. The letter dated X gave 1 month notice of the intention to issue the TRN (X+1month) The TRN should have been complied with within 2 months (X+1 month + < 2 months) The appeal needed to be submitted prior to the TRN taking effect (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/438925/trn_app_guidance.pdf (para 3 towards the end)) so a quick meeting with the TO, a disclosure of the intention and grounds of the intended appeal resulted in the letter giving notice of intention to serve the TRN being withdrawn.... I'd agree, 28 (ish) days notice of intention to issue TRN is required. (sent you a PM - not about this!)
  4. FC are on the case - all is solved! 3 days notice to be provided prior to import of fuel wood by sea, and 4 hours if by air (does anyone actually import firewood by air???) Oh, no, that's not going to help because, (a) it only applies to wood for fuel, (b) it's intended to improve bio security rather than address internal industry inequities and © they can't even manage current workload effectively.... Bugger, back to the drawing board!
  5. I'm a producer / trader for logs & pellets - I paid £7.50 The invoice produced stated 1 Oct to 31 Dec but at the online portal it says "membership fee (Q1 2017) Glitches in the system, there's a surprise!
  6. I got one from you Gary, it was disguised as a dropbox document and simply said, "can you find the reference." It had a touch of plausibility about it but since we hadn't recently been talking about any references I didn't open it - planned to drop you a message on here to check if it was pucker first.
  7. Is that YOU driving it? It looks MASSIVE!!
  8. Not sure. I am sure a NAO investigation (or similar) into which are genuine and reasonable installations and which are cash cows should be implemented to "fix" what appears to be a state sponsored scam in NI.
  9. Width and weight - easier access for domestic work and easier to transport on a fairly regular trailer behind PU / LR. Versatility, portability, utility... Just a personal view, and I did have Norcar in the mix when I was looking, and I have been to several demos since, but, for me, it was bigger / heavier than I thought I needed. I found it a bit more "agricultural" - now that may well be a plus point for some. The single most important factor for me was after sales service and access to / willingness of the dealer to 'engage' when needed. (Edit - dealer support / trust became the most important factor AFTER having reached the conclusion that the green, red and blue machines didn't have a massive difference between them - just some brand idiosyncrasies, price tweaks and spec levels. I'm not at all sure there is a great gaping chasm of price / spec / capability difference.) Now having said that, since I am SW based, they could have offered a gold plated, diamond encrusted, Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Romanee-Conti Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits fuelled Avant @ 50% RRP AND thrown in a titanium trailer AND a Humvee to tow it around with, but I STILL wouldn't want to do business with the area dealer.... make of that what you will!
  10. Seems like everyone is really happy with the kit they've bought.... That would be good news for all the makes & models and just leaves the OP to decide what's best for his application... Not sure anyone can help with that...🙃 PS, (for Dean), I spoke to Jordan last week, he's going to do a batch of road reg documents shortly, if you're interested, might be worth giving him a ring to get the ball rolling.
  11. Oh bugger! I'd filed all those thoughts / questions in the "all too difficult" folder... I'm going to have to go dig out the V5 now.... 😳
  12. Just thinking that, like the purchase of the RHI qualifying boiler, the installation costs, associated building works etc, products and services associated with RHI were 5% VAT. A long shot perhaps, and also, perhaps, more effort than it's worth to ask the question.... But I just can't help myself now..... If all I get from it is the chance to challenge officialdom to provide an accurate, authoritative answer, that'll be enough to make me giggle!
  13. I'm not entirely sure what you meant by that? He can't have been adding 20% to the payments you receive from RHI, did you mean he's been putting 20% VAT on your log sales? Shouldn't that be 5% if sold to the end user? Raises a further question for me now yo've mentioned it though.... I've just paid the BSL subscription fee and note the fee is VATable at 20%. I'm now wondering if that should actually be 5% since it's associated with a renewable? I know it really is only pence in the grand scheme of things, but if we have to have a system, and we have to pay for it, I want to know that it's accurate and appropriate! I'll email the Helpdesk since it's not worth the time, effort and cost of a phone call!
  14. Totally agree your points about advertising vis-a-vis exposure on BSL webpage v cost for an advert and the potential for business uplift / new customers. But it's not an advertising fee it's an admin fee which is used to instal and maintain another layer of bureaucracy, is likely to act as a disincentive to smaller / independent suppliers (opening the market to domination by larger outfits, price fixing and, ultimately, reduce uptake of RHI qualifying systems - not forgetting, the whole point is to reduce carbon output) and will likely be an inefficient, under resourced and poorly administered process manned by unaccountable, disinterested desk jockeys with little or no subject matter expertise leading, inevitably, to enduring inefficiency and fewer new qualifying installations. Thanks for "reducing red tape" UK PLC.... you're a champ! (The short version: yes, you're right, it's not a massive cost, but I still think it's pants!) 😳
  15. Change the Hawthorn, nasty for later maintenance, some harvestable fruits and nuts might be a nice touch to engender interest and 'ownership' as the area matures. Sounds like their heart is in the right place , just need some help with thinking it out to best effect.
  16. The answer is simple - they're not similar! The MultiOne out-classes the Avant! You've quoted the figures, it speaks for itself no?
  17. I rather doubt they'll ever have the interest, competence or assets to attempt anything other than a cursory desktop audit so I can't see the worry beads being deployed any time soon!
  18. Sounds completely logical! You must have spoken to the duty intelligent person! I got the idiot that thought they could "solve" the problem without listening to the issues! Must be 1 clever to every 20 muppets! Did you wait long for someone to answer? 10 mins on hold for me!
  19. Just more nauseating admin! Have any of you followed the link in the email to report / pay? Am i being a dullard or is it just a never ending circle of links that don't actually take you anywhere? Massive FO pill is imminent!
