  9. Rabaud have launched a 10cm tracked chipper worth a look.
  10. Look at the Rabaud Tirmax 4 its run by tractor hydraulics, from 1 spool, it has a 4 tonne constant line pull and uses a chain instead of a cable. A bit different to the norm, but we have supplied one to a local estate and they work it hard. has a 3 way direectional lower blade as well. no need for front pto, just use the linkage.
  11. we have a wood mizer as do many contractors. the timber we are using for firewood is "firewood" quality, low grade cheap knotty stuff. lots of local estates are very interested in purchasing the F80, as they have lots of this size stuff that they have until now found hard to process. I'm not trying to preach that this is the new answer to all your firewood production issues as its not. It can produce a lot of firewood from large timber quick. If thats what your after and you have the timber or can source it then it is a very good option. as processor grade timber gets harder to source, the more diverse the range of machinery able to deal with what's available, the better
  12. he can, if you saw him at the APF youll have seen how. To me there's not point spending loads of time using small timber. Time is getting harder to come by.
  13. when we used it, the operator cross cut for 2.5 hrs, machine was opearted for 2 hours and produced over 30m3 from oversized material generally 450 - 700mm. Dry beech
  14. forgot to mention, the F80 can do sub 300mm timber but were talking about big timber so ideal to use 400 mm plus, not generally standard processor grade
  15. larger timber for us is always much cheaper, cost for machinery compared to processor is in same range. we are set up to quickly handle this type of wood. life span on the the F80 will good with very little wear parts or sharpening. Not fussy with regards to the quality of thge wood. It can also be used top break down 1 m lengths very quickly with the 16 way grid. personally for our needs i think it is better suited than a 300-400mm processor
  16. yep there's one film on our face book page homeforestry llp. i spent about 2.5 hours ringing up beech logs and we then did the demo.
  17. im selling my processor, the production out ways the time and cost easily. sell all the small processor grade wood and use over sized. over sized is cheaper to buy. okay its best to have a crnae fitted or 3 point or in our case use a forwarder, but when you do the maths and if you produce a fair amount of wood this wins hands down. good strong equipment to go contracting with as well.
  18. yes produced about 3 grain trailers of beech logs in under 2 hours
  19. just had a demo with this machine and the production of firewood is amazing. fast and easy to operate. with logs upto 800mm in diameter.
  20. anyone interested in seeing loads of rabaud firewood machinery working including the new F80 log splitter we are having an open day this saturday in shropshire. its a bit off thread but will be a good day. forest journal will be on site and loads of new and used equipment. will also be 1 or 2 used valtras from brassington agri services. we will have great deals on new and used for show goers
  21. we harvest loads of hardwood with the harvester, its obviously not as easy as conifers, but in thinnings its no real problem, shorter heads like viking work well
  22. no reason for high stumps and no need to brash, get the right machine and right operator and the site will be tidier than hand cutters. no good putting clear fell machines in first thinnings, use thinnings harvesters with bottom knives to brash the tree as you lower head onto but and if the sticks are massive use a larger head or base unit. high stumps are a waste of timber and make the job harder next time around. if the rates are that bad on some sites don't bother. your only as good as the last job you leave. all equipment is affordable if you have the right business plan and attitude.
  23. Rabaud xyloflam 200/250. great value and very strong. produces kindling from 20-80mm approx production 100-120 bags per hour with large logs. will have one working on our open day 11th october Home forestry LLP. 4 models, 3 phase elec, pto tractor, tractor hydraulics and now the new kohler petrol model. comes with 4 way bagging carosel or the new slide bagging table. contact me if your in the market for 1
  24. 60hp min on the 540 pump option, 85 hp min on the 1000 pump option
