    Hi @shavey,

A larger bar and chain might be a good idea.

What are the exact parameters and gauges for the bar sizes so it fits the drive sprocket?

    Thanks for the advice.

The bar is made too fit the D033 mount it’s a 3/8 bar 063 gauge and 92 Drive link

so it’s adäquate to fit over the drive sprocket of the 123

Saw this dolmar  /makita and thought its a good spec for the money over either sthil or husky:

The Makita EA3601F35B comes with a 35cm guide bar and has been designed for semi-professionals with a 35.2cc low...

Only issue in future could be spares in   as they are going to stop making petrol saws.

Other options to consider is the electric corded husky/makita (they are the same saw just different colour)

I use this model  for firewood:

    MAKITA UC4051A/2

    Useful to have both....

That is a good saw it is around the same size as a husqvarna 42special it’s a shame they didn’t market it better when it was released now the petrol has stopped it’s getting too late

  3. You haven’t got much choice of bar that saw at the moment there’s three sizes around that fit and are available 20” 28” and 36”I’ve owned and used a few of these in

chainsaw and concrete saw versions and there sloggers top rpm is only 8k

i used to run a 30” on my last one

ive got a 28” and chain if you need any help

Fastfix have an offer on the Dolmar equivalent of Makita DUR368AZ cordless brushcutter at £148 inc.

Sounds like good value and gets good reviews, anyone got one? Think I’ll make a punt..

This was my best buy for fencing. Much nicer than playing around with chains and less risk of taking one to the head if it snaps.

You can do short stretches of netting with two people but I'm normally using a quickfencer or just chain the netting to the digger with our old holding bar

Did you find the edges on the grip too square too start with when new on high tensile barb wire it would break

They work well on line wire too. The way the cam rotates to grip the wire means it is less damaging so they can be used on spring steel wire also.

I look at the set hanging on my shed wall and wonder if I will ever use them again, fencing was never a thing for me but repairing breaks was fairly common.

If you ever decide too part company with them give me a shout

Yep. I assumed that, I only have a small stock fence around my garden but without the correct tools over uneven ground it's difficult to make it look tidy, it was just 2 completely different prices for the exact same tool that caught my eye, cheers.

Yes your right it can be a pain over uneven ground yes there seems to be a lot of that with the prices nowadays

& what is the red topper?

thanks @Stere yes it was a beach and thorn all grown in together hard going but

the weather was crap  when it gets too wet for stock fencing we fill in with hedge laying

the little topper is Solo / Alko 25cc

I purposely didn’t mention the jam / cream “issue” since I’m geographically displaced in regard to my jam on top disposition 😂

Luckily the jam has the same position around the Torridge area
