I've got a husky 345 with an 18inch bar cut all my firewood with it and some! It's a good machine starts everytime, cuts well and its nice a light. I do use a 365 which s good but much heavier. Just keep the chain sharp and it'l do the job, got mine for £100 3 yrs ago.

A barrow is pretty good considering the output of the stove. I do like the idea of this stove seems to be on the more efficient side of the scale, not too fussy on fuel, has the required output. It looks ok ish. Do you find the the adjustable grate works ok, I suppose it make cooking and heating more contollable? Thanksfor feeback its of great help

I assume your burning wood primarily, out of interest how much do you use on an average day? Also any trouble keeping it in at night?

Ye both my grandparents and parents have a 355sfw and burn coal (anthracite), they probably use 50Kg a week more colder weather less so warmer. I dont really think it utiliser wood as it should, I just you compromise when you get any multifuel stove. Although my Morso owl manages pretty well on either wood or anthracite

Thanks for the replies so far, there nothing like first hand experience. What fuel are you guys using primarily wood? I've also looked at a wamsler 900, it has good output (60000btus) and an adjustable grate. My concern is it lookes "tinny" for a £4k appliance. Ye the H2 panel looks a neat system. Cheers

Hi guys! I'm looking to install one of these in the near future. I currently run a oil central heating system (vented) with 10 radiators. I grew up with a rayburn 355sfw so know this beast pretty well, but there seems to be mixed reviews on these now and that the quality is not what it used to be. Anyone with other recommendations? And comments on linking the solid fuel to the oil boiler either with as neutraliser of thermal store.

A bottle of saline would do the job. They sell them in boots ect for contact lens user. Firstly the saline is sterile, cheap (£2-3 for 300ml bottle) and its got a handy nozzle so you can squirt it in your eye no problem.

Whereabouts were you living in carms? I presume your year in industry is in the refinery down by you? Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll do alrite you must be bright to get onto your course and your only 21 you've got plenty of time.

It's a difficult one mate. I think everyone who goes away to uni feels the way you do sometimes, it's a daunting task (especially with a demanding course). This time of year is worse with those 20 credit module exams looming. Which course are you doing is it BEng or MEng, if its BEng then you'll have a year left infact less than a year because contact time is less than 25 weeks. You've invested a significant amount of time and money already and at the end you'd have a quality degree. However if it's affectng your health then nothing is worth affecting your health over. I was at cardiff and at times I struggled just with the volume of work (and didn't particularly like living n a city esp when you come from carmarthenshire), 110 started my course 60 graduated, so you won't be the first to chnage their mind.
