  4. My granddad ( my Dads Dad ) saw action in both wars . When he was alive he would not speak of it at all . My Dad was on an aircraft carrier for a bit . He is 88 now .
  5. Surely non magnetic stainless as no ferrous content . If a magnet wont stick there is no iron ?
  6. Not starting a row here Just wondered how a stainless liner can rust ? . As I understood it you need ferrus ( Iron content ) to rust . Stainless should be non ferrus .....?
  7. Hard frost this morning Jon . Calm and sunny so far . Big lot of rain coming back in tonight though ......
  8. It more cheery than the year she spoke of her horrible anus !
  9. This thread has been resurrected from way back . I said a lot on it early on . Just like to say now it is a distant memory . NO problems with my saw whatsoever . 18" .325 driven by an 8 pin . Totally bonkers saw . The best 60cc saw I have ever owned . petemate has done a bit to it and it is reliable , fast , torquey , and nimble , especially with the Sugi light weight bar .
  10. Just a point to note . You can have two different saws with to identical bar lengths , working length from tip back to saw body , with different numbers of drive links because the drive sprockets are a different distance from the front of the saw body to where they mount on the crank shaft end .
  11. Only if Santa is piloting the space station ......
  12. More likely a " make over " at the local salon ......
  13. Thank you Ed . I wish you all you wish for yourself bud .....
  14. Old Inca trick if I'm not mistaken ....
  15. When I say " leaning on it " I mean using the dawgs to leaver it . Oh who cares . Its Crimbo !
  16. Hope she likes it . Need to get it fitted to her though !
  17. This is were it could be miss leading . Just letting the weight of the saw pull the cut through ( big saws having more weight ) you are not making use of any available torque . You may have found something like the 560 still cutting hard even if you leaned on it therefore shortening its time ?
  18. I was abducted by aliens when I caught a burglar stealing a police man from my shed then the baby Jesus came down and we all rode off into the sunset .
  19. Hi winds , driving rain , power keeps tripping out , Sky tv keeps dropping out , tree down on the way home getting kids Mac D . Drove round it police coning it off . No saw with me thank god ! Glass of red , stove ticking over slowly recovering from my " man flu " Jon .
  20. As tom says if the springs are weak the drive will engage sooner . That why you need to replace clutch springs if you get chain creep at idle ( correct idle that is ) Also if you can bend a spring to " open it up a bit " it is no longer a spring . .....
  21. If I might butt in here I put a light weight 28" on my 390 and it is better quality than the Oregon prolite that came off and lighter in weight making it less nose heavy .
  22. 18" .325 full chiz driven by an 8 pin ....
  23. Any one remember that sketch by Smith and Jones . Tearing around in their squad car ( SD1 Rover ) and smashed it up a bit . got back to the nick and the Sargent looked at and said " what happened here ? " they looked at each other a bit sheepish and said " it fell down the stairs sir "
