As a few others have said it sounds like valves not working correctly. There was a fault with some of the bigger single cylinder (16hp+) b&s engines that required the exaust valve to be adusted so as to be permanently opened slightly so as to relieve compression slightly because the starters were not man enough to turn them over. I'l see if I can find the service sheet we were sent tomoro. Might be worth looking on the web for same info.

Is there any change in engine tone when you operate the throttle? Could be the throttle linkage internally.

I'l use running bowlin on the end of my climbing rope with a prussik and fig 8,this I only use as a back up and to descend on in emergency as it would not be easy to re assend on this system, effectively SRT? I run the lose ends of ropes through a karabiner or caritool around the back of my harness to keep the out the way of spurs. Don't leave stubs when trimming up,if you gaff out they slow down you fall but bloody hurt.

Need to insure my tools and climbing gear. As I only use the equipment for my own property maintenance am I better off trying to get them added to my home insurance or start a separate policy? What do the self employed guys use? What companies?Any good or bad experiences? Any help much appreciated.

Surely everyone's used a motor to pull sticks over? I used ladders just strop onto tree and even one did a bizarre job at the top of scaffolding... As someone said a 70 something year old retired blokes 80ft could be a 20ft tree to a pro...
Yeah I guessed the 80ft was a slight exaggeration ,I had visions of blue telecom rope and a Nissan micra haha

We're at Yarnscombe, about 4 miles from Great Torrington, north Devon coast
Nice part of the county,I'm sure you'll find all the info you require here. There's several guys on the forum from the area if you ever need assistance. All the best with your move.

The bloke that was dismantling an 80ft tree with scaffolding and ladders and pulling the branches off with his car was surely a joke? Scary.

Welcome to the forum, where abouts in Devon are you moving to?

Thanks guys, good advice. had new head gasket and skim 10000miles ago if that changes anything?
You'll get another 15000 miles out of it before it goes again if your lucky, if it only needs to serve you short term it would be ok at the right money, depends if you need to spend much in it for MOT.

If it's really tight you can get a special puller for them or improvise with nuts and bolts as shooterjim said.

Common problem this, mines the same. I've tried new o rings, cap etc with no joy. I just try to run mine low or leave it on it's side now.

Sad loss, thoughts are with his friends and family. RIP Liam 'turbo' Taylor.

I had quick look at it long time ago just out of curiosity. Wouldn't have a clue on what it's really worth now though. You thinking of making a offer?

Is it in Tiverton by chance?? If it is its been out side for a while now. Will it have full warranty if things start going wrong?

Depending on where you are F.R Jones & Sons offer a short training coarse on their web site, might be worth checking out, sure someone can put a link up here for it? Either way get your self some PPE and some training/guidance from a professional.

HI JOHN this week we had water in the mf165 dev we had some thing in the tank to stop water but it no good i think it if the tank is low then you get condensation what do you all think jon
Best practice has always been to fill the tank at the end of every day not leave it empty over night, however, due to the fact you can't leave anything for 5minutes without it getting nicked these days, including fuel ,drivers tend to fill in the morning.

I suffer the same problem, middle finger on left hand, little finger on right hand. Cut middle finger bad with a Stanley knife years ago and crushed and broke little finger in digger bucket hitch. And suffer from " White finger " as a result.gloves don't seem to make any difference.
