  1. Thanks for the replies, I had a look at some pictures of phytophthora on trunks and It sure looks like it. I inherited the tree when we move into our new home, does anyone know where I can get some advice on how to look after it - It's a magnificent tree, about 25ft tall and I'd be gutted if it died.
  2. No fruiting bodies. and no other trees removed in the vicinity. The only other trees nearby are some Laylandii in my neighbors garden. Is this harmful? is there any remedy? thanks
  3. We have recently moved to a house that has a very big (probably old) Magnolia. I recently noticed a black oozing substance coming from the base of the tree - see photos. Is this a problem and what can I do about. The tree seems fairly healthy, it flowered in spring, followed by good leaf coverage but then continued to flower all season? also there are quite a few dead branches inside of the canopy. Advice/help appreciated.
