  1. Well said Paul, yet we've all had clients who take no heed of your best advice, and all they want is "about half the size and nice and round". You can preach best practice and pruning methods to them til you're blue in the face, but they don't care and want it their way. It can be frustrating, and being an employed climber who likes my job, I have had to carry out similar works, against my better judgement.
  2. Huntingdon or Hunningham? Hows the new ownership going?
  3. Well in fairness to him, the Scottish hunter gatherers foraged for Irn Bru and deep fried Mars Bars, so it's what their digestive systems were designed to cope with
  4. Just a different point of view to your own mate, I don't think he meant it personally. He had some fair points, but if everyone agreed the world would be a very boring place! Still finding it tough forcing 3 eggs and bacon down first thing!
  5. Does this mean we have to call you Mr Bannister? Good luck bud, I always think there's so much more to tree work than just climbing and cutting. Training is something I've often thought about for my future
  6. I know how you feel. I'm not hungry in the morning, at all, and it's hard work getting such a nutrient dense meal down your neck, but it pays off when you're still going at 12! Breakfast today was slow cooked pulled pork with homemade BBQ and chilli sauce, in a paleo bread sandwich. Made the bread last night (had to sub almond flour for gram flour). Tried it this morning: awful. Bone dry and brick like density. I'll be going to a health food shop to get the proper ingredients for the next batch.
  7. I've been doing this since the beginning of the week, with the exception of milk. Im not going to change my tea. Ever. I feel great, alert, and I don't get hungry as often. Haven't noticed any weight loss, but since I'm 10 stone its not a goal. The one thing I miss is bread. I can take it or leave it but my sandwiches have the tendency to fall apart without it! So I found this: Paleo Bread Giving it a go tonight so will post results. Its such a convenient thing to hold your sandwich fillings in, I hope it works!
  8. Easily done mate, there must be a fair few of us that have clipped their lanyard into their caritool in a moment of absent minded ness!
  9. Yes. Criminal. A few beers is more than a couple. And you can kill somebody on 1 metre of road, let alone 100m or 100km. I think you knowingly posted that scenario with the intention of sparking this debate, or if not you should know better. So don't get indignant and act the injured party when the replies aren't what you expected. Bit like saying "I hit this bloke with my landy, can anyone help me with where to get a new bumper?"
  10. Get some photos up and we can give better advice. One idea is choke two branches together for an anchor, another is to choke a sling and crab below your top anchor with one side of your line running through it, as a backup should your top anchor fail.
  11. Got some old cofra boots, they are well worn but would be fine for occasional use? Pretty sure they're 8 but I'll check in the morning. If they would suit you they're yours, just make a donation to the children's trust to cover the postage and I'll send you them.
  12. Never really noticed the vibes being any worse than any other saw.
  13. Same. Run a 460 on 25" and it is great. Never put a 20" on it but I can imagine it makes your marbles tingle!
  14. I'd imagine that the people looking forward to going back to work are mostly the ones who are relatively new to the job. I have been doing it for just over 2 years (got thrown in at the deep end somewhat with climbing) and I truly love what I do. In my spare time I watch vids, read up on here, and generally think about ways to be better at my job. It might sound sad to you and others I guess, but I see it as a hobby as well as a job, and for that I count myself lucky. When I have a family I'm sure my priorities will change, but with all the talk of unemployment and workers who can't be bothered I think there are much worse things than people who look forward to going back to work
  15. There was one septic company with the motto "a good flush beats a full house".
  16. Yeah I love big rigging and the tech side of things so I hope I'll learn plenty of stuff to bore the lads at work with! Is it sad that I'm pretty excited about it?
  17. Pair if stein type c's for the colder months. Reading the reviews on here was a great laugh! One guy was slating the hell out of them for being too bulky until it was pointed out he'd bought the wrong size!

I've got an 038 Super (66cc) and I much prefer it to the 361 at work. It runs a 20" fine but I'd like to get a 16" for it. Make it fly.
  19. I really find it helps. The biggest thing I have to negotiate is: DONT PUT A DEADLINE BEFORE SAFETY! They're called "DEADLINES" for a reason. So many accidents can be avoided by thinking things through!
  20. Maybe you could list what you are looking for in a friction hitch might help? Grip, reliability, durability, sprortiness would all be usefull. Help us help you!
  21. Edit: moderated by gross alcohol consumption.
  22. Hahahaha brilliant! Do you reckon they have specially made pants to accommodate their gargantuan testes?
