Looking for an experienced felling contractor to fell oak trees. G63
-
To explain the basis of the price sought:
Green larch is about 660kg to the cubic m.
1 tonne = 1.5 cubic m
1 cubic m of roundwood equates to 2 cubic m of loose bagged logs.
Softwood is selling on average at about £60 per builders bag (0.76 cubic m)
So there are approximately 2 to 2.5 builders bags per tonne; so 1 tonne of firewood should make between £120 to £150.
Forestry Commission data for softwood sales in Scotland reveals average prices of about £40 per cubic m for red logs. This includes sitka spruce, etc whereas larch is a much better firewood.
This is a job for a man and chainsaw rather than a harvester so it is likely the timber will be stacked for some time as we cut enough for a load. This should mean that the timber will get lighter as it dries and the customer will get more volume to the tonne.
At the end of the day I am always willing to discuss a reasonable offer.

£50 plus VAT (5%) per tonne roadside.
The timber can be left tree length, 2 or 3m lengths.

Does anyone know from where I can hire a firewood processor for work in Stirlingshire Scotland?
May also consider selling cordwood or firewood wholesale if anyone is interested.
Thanks
