Hiya
How did you make it baggy? What did you use I'd love to make one I've done some spoons but not a bowl. Any pics of the process? No pics, but the process is
1) shape the outside of the bowl with an axe
2) hollow the inside with spoon knives
That is pretty much it.

Nice work mate, theres some beech limbs in my front yard, if you are passing feel free to liberate them.
Thanks Geoff
I will pop by, probably at the weekend :-)

I would also recommend the 106 over the 120, and agree that the ben Orford spoon knives are good. If you buy the mora spoon blades you will soon want to upgrade.
If you do not mind putting a handle on then Nic Westermans blades are excellent

A few thoughts after using the Nic Westermann Draw knife a bit more
I like the clearance either side of the blade, between cutting edge and tang.
The more I use the DK the more that I think that a 4" cutting edge version would be fantastic for small work like larger spoons, scoops, ladles etc - I think that the handles would need turning out a bit to allow hand space.
A set at 12" cutting edge for ripping off bark and reducing large bits of wood, 8" cutting edge for general and carving use and a 4" cutting edge for carving would be brilliant,
A couple of people have noticed and like the (unique?) angled in edges of the blade, this is a great little feature. The more that I use the DK the more I appreciate the ability to slide my hands forward and put my thumbs into the gap between the cutting edge and the tang, I had not noticed how often that I do this. In the past I have nicked my thumbs on, borrowed, DKs where the cutting edge turns out towards the tangs.
The angle of the tangs to the bevel is just right.
Again the more I use the DK the more the I like the ability to use very fine control.
It is sitting on my desk and the mirror finish in the bevel against the dark, blacksmithed, look is wonderful. Visually is shouts craftsmanship.
In case I have not mentioned it I find this DK easy to use with bevel up and down, which for me is unusual.

Hiya
Whats the cost on one of them ??This was something that Nic and I were developing so you would need to check pricing with him

Sorry, I should clarify, Nic Westermann is the blacksmith that made the drawknife . I had some ideas about the making and I will be the user of this fantastic blade :-)
I did no work on the edge, all of Nics blades arrive super sharp.

Hi all
A while ago I mentioned that I was looking for a drawknife, then I had a chat with Nic westermann and he was planning to start making drawknives.
I put together all the ideas that I had picked up about drawknives from research and testing and passed them on to Nic. Nic also had some ideas and this is the result.
Supersharp, very easy to control bevel up or down, love it.

Nice work,
I have some large scraps of oak and ash so I will have a go at making those.

Give Robin Fawcett a call
Green Woodworking with the Treewright
He turns priests on the pole lathe and weights the end, very nice.
Just found this on his blog
"Tomorrow we're going to be preparing for a weekend at Blake Hall Game & Country Show near Epping/Ongar, Essex so I've been finishing some priest's, made of Ash and loaded with a lead plug"

I must admit to sometimes asking in forums rather than google as the replies usually throw up a recommendation for a reliable and trusted supplier

Hiya
Were my postings of any help at all? I hope I haven't caused offence?Sorry for the slow reply the death of my nextdoor neighbour side tracked me.
I really appreciate the time you took to comment so fully and I have implemented your suggested edits. I quite like writing but I do need to get a lot better, especially at proof reading.
Thanks again
Mark

My thoughts (in red). A good piece though, very helpful for those who are learning about such things.
Thanks, I have made the edits that you suggest, and I have liked your facebook page.
Did you like the pit saw in the 2nd article?
