Of the 200 + chains Oregon make some are heavily guarded and don't perform like the pro chains, i am the Oregon area mgr for NI and invite you to try the latest pro chains like 22BPX and 22LPX .325 chains and 75LPX 3/8 chain for your saws amongst many others, PM me your number and town and i'll direct you to the nearest Oregon dealer.

Once you have tried these X chains i would appreciate your comments here on Arbtalk.

  7. THANKS ROB I WAS ONLY JOKING ETC

a nice chap called clive has a larger spool head for me so will give that a go see how i go etc so i can carry on helping out the oap,s around me i just hope one day i find a stihl model that suits my needs etc as ryobi dont come close etc for longevity etc

  8. If you can get over to burscough there is either ramages on the high street who sell husky and all manner of garden stuff and hardware.

Or t&h power who are a stihl dealer on the industrial estate. I go there for all my saw stuff and are a good group of guys, will advise you well on what's a good choice.

You won't go wrong with the strummer for sale here, I think we've got one actually. Plenty power and reliable enough, hardly had maintenance since we bought it.

were do i get a strummer from rob who makes them !!

  9. If you can save your money buy a new model stihl or echo. Buying something used may or may not be a good idea. Best Regards

    elg

i would like a stihl to be honest but what model would be best suited as parts etc for stihl are easy to sorce etc

i just not a clue with the numbers etc what they mean n such

  10. I was thinking of getting a second hand strimmer as moneys tight out of work at the moment etc and would like some advice please i use a 25 cc

ryobi at the moment but the spool that holds the line is a pain it dont hold much and it aint thick enough for my uses etc

what i use it for is my garden borders approx 60ftx30ft and my front 2 front gardens and i have 2 neighbours who are pensioners i look after there lawns etc and also the odd job friends and family etc but dont get or exspect payment just all done with goodwill etc

i was thinking of buying a secondhand stihl from someone local tree surgeon etc what model should i go for as ebay is a mine field for me and dont want to part with my brass n buy the wrong thing etc

or should i just save my money up and buy a new one with that will take some line that will last a while as i would only say use it once a week or once every 2 weeks

  11. HI ALL ANYONE still got fire lite we have but we are southern softys:lol: all the best jon in very cold somerset

Got our severn on now been running 3 days but cant get our dog out from front of it i have to drag him on his blanket out the way to load it back up with wood lol and then drag him back lazy dog lol

  12. There is a danger of two-stroke engines running weak if there is too much oil in the mix. The extra viscosity coupled with the extra volume of the oil means less petrol per bang, which means weak mixture, overheating and possibly detonation.

I still have a lot of information on different oils from my two-stroke bike tuning days, one of the most important properties is film strength and even the best modern synthetics can't beat castor oil for this although they score with friction modifiers, octane boosters and additives that make the mix keep much better without gumming up your carb.

Chainsaws aren't highly tuned, so the oil doesn't have to do much, I'll bet Stihl and Husky are both pretty basic oils.

I just got reading my stihl handbook for 361/341 stihl,s and it,s only a year old stihl state use a 50:1 mix with stihl oil but mix 25:1 any othere brand oil ?

  13. With regards to the bars I would say go with stihl. You HAVE to grease the oregon bars you dont with the stihl and they last a ridiculous amount of time so its not even worth considering the savings imo.

cheers for that i will go with stihl then as the stihl i got on it now has been ground up looking at it just now etc" its also blue on the edge so would think its kiffuffled now. I got it as a spare saw from ebay etc about 12 months ago so only gets used about once a month as a spare back up saw and on fitting a new chain the faults not gone away thus it dont get used much so new bar me thinks best for it then

  14. Check tou aren't using 1.3mm gauge chain on a 1.5mm bar as it would have this effect.

good thinking i got my chain fron steve chainsdirect he,s been very good to me and will go check that out were only human lol we all make mistakes that maybe the problem

i will check the bar now "

  15. The chain may just be poorly sharpened or the bar may just need "fettling".

its a new oregon chain on so thinks its the bar but whats your choice oregon or stihl ?? the bar groove compared to my new oregon bars seems very worn i would just like to know do i choose stihl or oregon as there twice the price on ebay when compared so would i get twice the life over stihl verse oregon ??

  16. I,am just on the verge of replacing the 16" bar n chain on my old stihl 025 chainsaw i use it as a back up saw or can you lend me a saw etc.

Do i choose oregon or stihl bar n chain ???? all my saws that had stihl bars on have slowly changed over to oregon because of cost but as a total novice and so far learned the hard way buying cheap diy saws for my woodburner i,ve ended up paying out twice selling on crappy cheap saws and moved over to stihl only now so any advice would be greatful thanks as i,am willing to learn n listen to the xperts on here :001_rolleyes:

ps my 025 is playing up i fitted a new oregon chain on a stihl bar and as i dig in it stops cutting i have to lift out then back in so to speak to get it to cut again as though its trying to cut to one side n jamming so to speak so think the bars past its best now chain groove looks worn n wide etc thats why i think its new bar n chain time like i said willing to learn n listen but dont take the micky please lads i aint made of wood all i want is your advice please
