  1. Thats not a soft dutchman though ....

yes you are right nut the cornetto is a standard dutchman, ive seen a variation to the "soft dutchman" where instead of the two cuts in the scarf a vertical cut is made behind the hinge. Il Post a vid up is bet way to explain

  2. Id say any bar apart from husqvarna as they seem to not last at all, the jury is still out on the sugihara bars at the moment for me but they do have replaceable noses but the bars are more expensive than other brands

  3. Been working on a Stihl MS460 today, it was in the workshop to port, one thing that always makes me smile is when the saw that the owner needs making faster comes in with a real claggy air filter that must rob the saw of a good 15% of its power.

Anyone tried running a mile with a face mask on or with a bad cold:lol:

Anyway - the saw is done, exhaust widened, piston windows opened up considerably, the dual port muffler opened up and the squish lowered.

It came in with a healthy 170psi but now has nearer 190psi so it should pull well, pickup is pretty nippy for a large saw:thumbup:

Just like to say the saw was out last week and ran a treat, it picks up instantly and pulls like a train through the timber. Had a good mix of timber as well some oversize larch which it just flew through and some big oak and chestnut which made me laugh when crosscutting at how much quicker it was.

I would highly recommend spud for modding your saw:thumbup:

  4. I knew the defender lovers would come to slate the jap hilux, mitsi, nissan etc but its run its course and is world renowned but things move on and we can argue till the cows come home, Ive owned loads of pickups to say the least including a defender and my opinion is hilux is my prefered choice and its never got stuck ever and i drive to the woods all day its just down to tyres!!!!:001_smile:

  5. By Steve youve had some motors! Man after my own heart. I have a mk5 hilux but would like something far newer but still great for towing. Poss a RR Sport or a Disco

Ive had a few! only used a RR p38 diesel nothing newer ok for towing but problems with them are the airbag suspension and compressors have a shelf life not sure about new ones, new ford ranger is supposed to be a really good truck not sure bout towing

  6. if i did lots of towing id get a landy but cab room and reliability are a problem, hilux are bomproof reliable had one for 4 years and only needed regular oil change and flew through all mots good off road, not great towing. mitsubishi tend to go through parts and engine probs on earlier models. navara avoid 02 to 04 plates as have dodgy engine. fourtrak are good but rust nissan patrol drink a lot.

thats all i have experienced with 4x4s
