  1. 235/85R16 is the best comprimise between float and bite and if your XZL's are 750R16 are correct for your speedo. But what rims do you have ? - 5.5" is standard but are not recommended for 235's - heavy duty rims are usually 6.5" and will be fine as will 7" steel or alloy rims.
  2. Each lever appears to be connected to the valve casting by a c-shaped rod ,a flat plate and two split pins. If you take of these parts and make up three more flat plates you can replace the pivots on the casting with a bolt of about 5" long and replace the pivots on the levers with 3 short bolts. It will take a minute or two but it can be done in place with no welding:thumbup1:
  3. 3636 is the stihl part number for PMC3 chain:thumbup1:
  4. The Defender is the only one to legally tow 3500 kg But they are thirsty under powered and uncomfortable:thumbdown: and deprieciates the least:thumbup:
  5. My understanding is that if the stihl bar number starts with 3005 it is equivalent to oregon A074 and fits the smaller saws upto 230 and 250. If the stihl bar number starts with 3003 it is equivalent to Oregon D025 and will fit saws 240 and 260 to 660. What bars were your instructors using - stihl , oregon or something else ?
  6. I don't think the 3/8 LP bar will fit the 261. But if you want to run a narrow kerf - Oregon do a 1.3mm guage bar in 0.325" pitch available in 13",15",16" and 18" 130MPGD025 for the 13" and uses 95VP chain(same as Husky pixel)
  7. The writing on the bar is too big. The starter cover should be flat not domed. The chain brake lever should be fixed on both sides. The fuel and oil caps should be black and white. These are the most obvious differences at a glance:hello:
  8. Made a couple a few years back to use as patio heaters - didn't take very long before they were glowing cherry red - burning well seasoned beech
  9. Aarrow EV11FW been going night and day since beguining of October - used about 12 cube so far
  10. Your local N.F.U secretary's wage is dependant on the amount of insurance they sell. They are more interested in your renewal dates than any problems you may have with DEFRA - Of course they will insure you
  11. Husqvarna quote 18.5 m/s at max power(9600 rpm) At max speed(13500 rpm) chain speed is 26 m/s:001_rolleyes:
  12. My brother in law's brother works for Forest-Fuels near Holworthy. They have a 380 Hp crane fed 24" that they hire out:001_tt2:
  13. Well done on welding it all up without it pulling out of line or burning through the groove - you'll be making a telescopic bar next:lol:
  14. Checked my 165 this afternoon and the return port is on the left hand side under the seat infront of the lift arm.If your 35x doesn't have one you'll have to use the transmission oil filler cap as previously mentioned.
  15. The standard fitting is the 1/2" quick release coupling so should be the same.
  16. Oregon do a 13" bar in 3/8" to fit husky saws - 138SLHD009 probably do one for stihl saws - 133SLHD025 ? But the usable lenght of a 15" is only about 13 1/2" on my 365:001_tt2:
  17. Most simple log splitter will have there own double acting spool valve with a lever within easy reach of the operator. The oil can be supplied by your trailer tipping pipe with the quadrant lever set for constant pumping. All you need is a return for the oil. There should be a plug with an allen key socket on the hydraulic cover located just infront of the right hand lift arm.Remove plug and replace with a female 1/2" quick release coupling and job done:thumbup:
  18. If it's the same post that I remember the candidate was told he could not use his 357xp because his trousers were class 1 and only rated for a chain speed of 20 m/s. Husqvarna quote 21.4 m/s at 9600 rpm(max power) as the chainspeed for a 357 with a 7 tooth 3/8" sprocket. With a 7 tooth 0.325" sprocket the chain speed would be 18.5 m/s and an 8 tooth 0.325" sprocket the speed would be 21.2 m/s. So it would appear that a 7 tooth 0.325" sprocket should be used with class 1 trousers.(Just don't tell the instructor that at max speed (13500 rpm) the chain will be doing 26 m/s)
  19. Most tractors of this size will have 1000 speed PTO and be able to produce 540 rpm at about 1200 engine rpm. Most tractors can do this to a 6 spline shaft some older ones will need a 21 spline to 6 spline adapter. I run my tractor flail hedge trimmer using the 1000 speed PTO - uses alot less fuel, quieter and gives lower gears for when its really overgrown.
  20. Fast-Tach - upto 20K,wireless,quick update and £69 including VAT + delivery See previous threads on this forum:biggrin:
