  1. Dear all, I am currently undertaking my third year of a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Arboriculture at Moulton College whilst working as a consultant for a small practice in Northampton. As part of my final year I am required to undertake a dissertation project for which I have decided to look into the role of specialist decay detection equipment within the arboricultural industry. The underpinning data for my project is being collected via an online questionnaire aimed at professionals within the industry; I wonder if you would kindly take a few minutes to complete this survey and if possible forward the link to as many people you know who have some arboricultural focus within their work practices. I am hoping for as many responses as possible so your input is greatly appreciated! Everyone is welcome to participate! If you require any further details regarding my project or how the data is to be used, please don’t hesitate to contact me. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PiCUS_Dissertation_Project_Robert_Murison_V1_3 Thank you for your time and support, Kind Regards Robert Murison 07534977833 [email protected] Robert Murison | LinkedIn
  2. Very nice indeed! What a street tree!!
  3. Luck totally! you should see most of my attempts at photography, tend to be a bit trigger happy resulting in lots of slightly ambiguous shots! Yeah i was blown away by them, think they work incredibly well 'on mass', would love to see more of them planted around.. I can see them lining some of the paths in our royal parks, make a change from the usual tree species palette used!
  4. Hi Chaps, can't wait to see what comes up next! Took this a few years back in Paris, lovely avenue of Paulownia tomentosa, by luck we're were out there just as the blooms were doing their stuff! Turns out they are quite commonly planted in the city, can't say i've seen too many knocking around the streets of London! Hope the load works, first time loading a photo onto arbtalk!
  5. I fell this is probably the way to go.. I sat down and made a spread sheet with loads of dropdowns and pretty much coppied out all tree species found in the collins guide (That takes ages) so i know that will work and the autocad software is great, especially as we already use the desktop version. The last hurdle to jump over in this instance is finding an efficient way of using an aerial photograph to locate trees and input tree numbers onto, this would be for standard hazard assessment surveys where topo surveys are not available.. It seems like there isn't THE perfect solution just yet, if i was more technically minded i'd defiantly have a go at writing my own software to satisfy our bespoke needs! Thanks again for all your inputs, Rob

    Stihl ms261

Great saw! Go for it, you wont be disappointed!
  7. I've heard good things about arbortrack however (i may be completely wrong) i was under the impression that it is more designed for land owners / managers such as estates and councils who manage a stock of trees. Our business is mainly BS 5837 surveys and risk assessment surveys on sites across the UK. Again, i may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure arbortrack is designed for this kind of work.. Any thoughts? Anyone had any good experiences with epicollect or OTISS? Cheers, Rob
  8. Hi, We're having the same issue! I have just created my form i wish to use in epicollect for the using during 5837 surveys. It has loaded onto our Samsung tablet well enough but as soon as i want to put any data into it, the app just crashes 'Unfortunatly, EpiCollect has stopped'. This is incredibly frustrating seeing as our initial test forms worked a treat! I know it was a long time ago but was wondering if you persisted with EpiCollect and found a way around this issue, or if not, what system you went over to? We're a Consultancy firm which has traditionally used the paper and pen method but has just invested in a samsung android tablet and is hoping to use a relatively cheap app or program that allows for inputting of data and plotting trees onto aerial photographs.. EpiCollect looked perfect apart from this irritating glitch! Any info or comments would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance!
  9. I love mine. 16'' bar. its just so versatile, which is great for me as i can't afford to have the perfect saw for each task.. need a great all rounder and it hasn't let me down so far!
  10. Looks a very nice spot to be working in! nice job! Rob
  11. Sweet outcome! I find it really useful when i get feed back from clients regarding my prices, very rarely happens but its invaluable!
  12. I'm really liking the Knut, still quite new to HC and it takes some getting used to for sure, but once you get used to it it really is an impressive system! certainly works your arms alot more or maybe thats just me!
  13. Bought mine! last year i got my essential arb subscription which i've loved! i wonder what this year will bring!!

I've grown quite attached to my movember 'tashe! Seems a shame to nurture it all month then just shave it off! There's no convincing my girlfriend sadly!
