  1. In the interests of fairness, that means we should also have access to all tpo applications so we can quote if we want.

Does that mean the outcome of a decision could be difft considering they stand to make money if it's ok'd?

Playing devil's advocate fir a min, you also have to look at it from a customer point if view. "Why would the tree work industry want less competition? Just to make mire money". That's how Joe blogs would see it.

As much as you & I have subsidised all the gear they use, don't forget, so have the customers.

I've had to drop the price of a job by around £300 once to get a job against a council quote. I didn't mind cause I advertised on gumtree & had all the logs taken away for free.

  2. As mentioned, communicate with the neighbour. It's the best way to way to avoid problems.

An old couple who possibly can't afford to have them cut down & maybe too embarrassed to enter dialogue for that reason so be friendly & honest.

Offer to go halves on the cost but If it's the right house for you then in the grand scheme of things it may be worth paying to get them removed.

You may well find your home insurance may stipulate it.

Bear in mind though that nesting season is pretty much started now just for another spanner in the works!

  3. The Pfanners probably aren't lighter than Stihl Tissueflex, but they're better in every other way.

I doubt anyone in history has ever gone back to Hiflex after wearing Pfanners.

When you say better in every other way can you tell me a bit more please?

I'm genuinely interested to hear people's views who actually wear them rather than people who want you to buy them.

  4. Interesting setup!

2 things that pop to mind:

    1) is the angle grinder clamped securely enough.

    2) whether it's gonna spin too fast.

    A resourceful setup 😀

Let us know how you get on.

  5. I'll be getting a planer thicknesser in the future & will be using an old Dyson.

I've used it with my hand held planer & it worked fine. I like the idea of blending a hoover & a wheelie bin though! 😁

  6. 200 is a lot of pallets to store & denail!

I got a local pallet yard who I normally raid for kindling & bonfires when we go offroading. They stack a load of broken/damaged slats on a pallet which may be easier to sift thru for materials.

I think the Mrs has come around to risking having my "handiwork" in the kitchen... 😁

Best thing is you can do a little section/units at a time, so she may say "Oi! Thats nothing like the photos you showed me" & you may get a call 😄😄😄

    You definitely an inspiration!

  7. I like it mate.

Funnily enough I mentioned a similar idea to my Mrs & got a very "sceptical" look...

I never considered pallets, I was just gonna buy timber from the yard I get my fencing timber from.

The idea appeals to me as it's so bespoke to the space you have.

I like the glued/screwed approach, I was thinking more the "Sunday League" route too 😄 but feel well inspired now!

Just got to get the garage built 1st 😲😁
