Not sure which 201 Dan was talking about but the Mtronic one is the best, early 201s were dire, they are not the same machine and there are a couple of significant differences making the machines completely different.
The 201 throttle rods....come on....really, any tech who has done one MS200/201 will know to turn the machine on its side and if unsure, take the lid off carefully and take a pic of the parts on a smart phone!!! They are really not that difficult to strip!
I could probably get a carb of a 201 in 1-2 mins. The 540......what shall we say, 5 minutes if you are lucky, probably nearer 10!! That 540 throttle cable.....what a sod, who invented that one, the fiddly wire connectors...Mmmmmm, all the breather and fuel pipes, the impulse issues, the over complicated inlet manifold!!! Break the handle and bang goes the fuel tank.....the 201, a £12 part and under an hour to fit
It's a 2017 much less power than the 2014 540xp, and even more so than the 2020 one I just got! I don't really notice that much difference between the Stihl 201 and echo 2511 tbh, both slow right down on bigger stuff

540 for me. Have had both for a while and switch between them, 2 weeks ago the husky broke, so I ordered another immediately rather than be stuck with the 201, it's just nowhere near as powerful and useless at chogging down. Always notice the extra power when pick up the husky.
Last one was the mk1 I've had since 2014 and been fine, new one is MK2, only done 2 days with it but feels a better saw

No, you need to turn the branch over before re-feeding it and it didn't do it from new either. It started after a few months use, I have many videos of branches needing encouragement
Neither my old Quadchip or GM200 suffered this, nor the GM13-23, TW125 , GM130, Bandit XP65 or Forst ST6 that I have used.
Stuart
Have you got the vid where you can pull the rollers apart, with the spring on, by hand. That one shocked me! Need a tool to open mine for extra leverage even with the springs taken off.
I honestly think that chipper isn't fit for purpose and should be taken back with a refund given with a deduction for use obviously.
It doesn't chip, it doesn't feed, or reverse with the bent metal so thin it catches on the hopper, and then it's so thin on the roller mechanism it's out of shape and needs to be bent back regularly with a tool designed for the job! If it were a dog I'd take out out back and shoot it

Best hope he doesn't have any bills between march and June or need food or anything then.
I'm self employed and need to do a few days to keep up with things and that's without paying the rent as just can't afford it

He bought it from the UK as I understand it, to save money.
So if he bought it in France the service would match the UK?

Why does GM allow their international branches operate on a different ethos to the areas surrounding the factory ?♂️ Stuart's 150 is unusable imho from what I've seen of it, none of which began since the lockdown. I know if my chipper developed even a minor fault it'll be collected from site with a new machine left in its place, because this exactly what happened

I would have expected your tales of woe on the internet would focus Greenmech's thoughts somewhat if they wish to continue sales abroad, and no, blaming the problem on a warranty issue with the engine supplier cuts no ice.
Especially when the website states:
GreenMech are proud to offer a 3 Year Warranty as standard on all products. This warranty is a “no quibble”, unlimited cover on parts and labour and is unmatched by any other manufacturer.

You are missing the point.
I am comparing Amazon's efficiency to dealers in-efficiency in obtaining parts.
Stuart
I'd have thought dealers should have pretty much everything on the shelf ready to go for either sales or warranty work

agreed, my Quadchip is amazingly frugal but i couldn't care less really. My previous chipper could drink £35-£40 worth of petrol on a very busy day but it didn't faze me as long as it was reliable. I'd prefer a diesel chipper that drank a bit more 'motion lotion' but was a savage bit of machinery at snapping gnarly forked branches and gobbling dense conifer limbs without choking up.
Chipper fuel is my lowest outgoing. Do £20-40 a day diesel driving around and rarely over £5 petrol in the chipper

It’s always mystified me why you obsess over fuel consumption for your machines.
Bung another €10 on the job, or stack and chip at the end like the real tightarses do
You wanna see his spreadsheets on volume of chip per job. I always give Stuart a call when I can't sleep ?

Ty,Dan..first day using the 165 which is a demo model the diesel which weighs in at 1000kg compared to 750kg of my 150p so massive difference towing and trying to move around.but apart from that all I can say is what a great machine so far and obviously it looks the nuts in its design only problem I had was not being able to see the rollers because of the plastic guide strips and when you are used to seeing the rollers it takes some getting used to.but apart from that it a really well balanced machine and is built to a high standard and useable from smallish job to much bigger ones if necessary and I would say if you brought this machine it really does cover all bases.i like the speed control variation for the roller, button for tick over and press for full throttle so very easy to use.so compared to the 150p there is no comparison the 165 is a totally different beast in the nicest possible way.personally if I was going to order one which is highly likely going by today I would go for then petrol version with a 37hp Briggs engine and up side it weighs in at around 880kg which would suit my needs much better.
Was it the petrol you used? I can't get my head around the point in the 24hp diesels tbh

I know a guy in France with a chipper on 200 hours. It's broken.
My last chipper was a Jensen 530 was coming up 1400 hours and was worn, but chipped fine. Still going strong don't know current hours

I folded and re-booted.
www.lejardinieranglais is mothballed.
I still own the domain but the trading name is dead under French law.
New site 'en cours'
Current one was hastily put up by a mate for no charge.
Alot of revision of the script and an effort made with better images.
It can't be that bad considering the amount of work coming our way but as I see it, the site has much room for improvement.
