Got the kit! I’m a firewood dealer so would have the cordwood and my friend has the chipper who would sell the chip to biomass
-
There’s a lot of trees talking 500t hence the felling licence and some re planting will be done on hedges as it’s all big stuff!
-
It’s close to home! Doesn’t sound right paying the landowner to cut trees and doing all the hard yards for him! I know there’s value of firewood & chip but still got to pay to cut it, 2 men, diesel, depreciation of kit etc
It’s would be a 2 year project felling license needed...

Question!
got 2 companies felling trees for land owners for free to get biomass chip! Doesn’t seem right to me... (RHI) there’s cost for everything! Been approached by the land owner to manage a 50 acre block of land but how do I compete if it’s done for free... I know there’s value in the timber for firewood and brash for chip but it’s a job to calculate Wots it’s all worth until u get stuck into it... it’s all mainly ash which has die back, 2 small woods and 6 internal hedges where big trees are overgrown! Doing it with my friend so between us have the kit! Digger, forestry trailer, winch and big chipper. I do the firewood and he does the chipping!
so the key question is Wots the best way to go about it to get the nod over competitioncheers

They seem like reasonable prices, it's probably a bit high for commercial rates in all honesty but I'm guessing that's not your target and for small jobs I can't see many arguing - it's got to be cheaper than buying in firewood for the customer.
For what it's worth our 480 with tractor and labour is £50 plus VAT an hour. Transport included for a reasonable distance and we can supply a loader to speed things up.
Spot on I’m the same!

Hi All,
bought a new Stihl 441 saw about 3 months ago been well impressed with it great power until using it lately seems to be de powered! Any reason... good mix, air filter is fine... no H or L to tune carb now so plug into diagnostics is only option...

Looking to upgrade from my botex 8t to a bigger trailer and have come across the big foot with a 570C crane. Looks a well built very strong trailer with wide wheels 600’s and crane with a 2T lift. My only concern is it’s quite heavy weighing around 4T empty. I do a fair bit of road work and wanted to know wot it’s like on the road and how much horse power is needed to pull it... currently have a McCormick MTX 120hp tractor ? cheers ?

Thinking of upgrading from a Hakki pilki 42 easy to a 50 any feedback on this machine would be appreciated.
Or a similar priced/size machine
Thanks in advance
Big difference in price extra 15k for 50 plus u would need big timber 24ton ram 12 way splitter to get the output! To justify a 50 u need to be processing a lorry load a day (hakki pilke reps words!) job to beat the 42 and hear good reports of tafjun 480... having a dealership close by is worth it’s weight & gold!!! Back up is everything!

Hello. I am trying to shift roundwood log of Sitka and Douglas. Chicken farmers are not giving much, and fencing stakes is too much hassle. I would like to sell to firewood merchants by the cord, 8'x4'x4'/128 cubic feet or 3.6m cube, with a market value for the finished product a little over £240 based on softwood log for sale by the dumpy bag in South Wales.
Where abouts are you based...

We get mix of seasoned larch and spruce in 5m lengths between 6inch and 14inch for £30/ton delivered. Lorry and drag are loaded to top of bolsters and only 20 ton on the load............a processed load makes 95, 90x90x90 bags. I'd not be doing firewood if cost was £70/cube
I thought it was steep never bought by the cube before! Waiting to hear back from some other suppliers...

Maybe you can get it to work off the conveyer pipes? That would have the advantage of being to stop both at once.
Or is there a lift/second function on the log deck that you don't use?
Tried going off the conveyor motor but didn't work... log deck and sawdust extractor run off those 2 functions
-
Ok cheers for that

Or any other processor's...

Got a hakki pilke 1x42 fitted with a log deck and saw dust extractor as extras which run off processor. I have bought a posch log fix screener/cleaner which run off hydraulic's (infeed & outfeed pipes) but my tractor hydraulic spools are faulty. Which part of the processor hydraulics can I tap into? Has anyone else got the same system? Running 3 pieces of equipment off the machine. Been told pump is big enough! Any help or advice be much appreciated
cheers

Surely a generator exhaust clamped onto Tractor exhaust is all you need? its just a tube of correct diameter fitted to the existing pipe and out to the nearest outside point?
In HGV garage we had roof mounted extractor fans with long flexi 4" tubes to put on exhaust when running engines in workshop these drew plenty of fresh air as well as exhaust gases as weren't sealed just hooked over exsiting truck pipes (which changed location on each unit) but if this is a fixed install just the right Diameter tube as long as not to far. Assuming shed roof isn't 10m above the current exhaust stack?

Looking at a 6m length of going straight up into the roof. The roof is a corrugated concrete fibre roof so would have to make a hole. Next question would be how to stabilise the pipe as a a lot of weight on exhaust (straight pipe exhaust) and the against the roof... tractor will be staying there for 10 months of the year needed for hay making in summer

Make an adapter to a long slot exit pipe.
Double the cross sectional area of the pipe should do it.
Can you break this down for me... from the exhaust scaffold pipe to be put on a bend so no burn out on the angle where flexi liner joins... not sure wot u mean by the last paragraph can u explain...

If you put a fan bringing air into the workshop the pressure will force any fumes out. This is the method used for paint spray bays. Is the workshop 20 meters wide and the tractor in the middle ? The fumes would find their way out through a sealed pipe system such as a piece of flexy linked to say the scaffold pipe suggested earlier just knock a hole in the wall or take it to a window or door.
The tractor is in the middle of an 80ft by 80ft shed. The roof has vented ridges. So your saying a length of scaffold tube fitted over the exhaust with a reducer to take a 4-5 inch flexi pipe out? Been reading up on exhaust temperatures, 400/600 degrees under 60-80% pto load! Scaffold tube take that heat? The ridge gap at top of roof is only 75mm so hose would have to follow shed frame as you wouldn't want to reduce hose at the end. This is all new to me!!!

https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/flexible-pipe-2-inch-bore-per-1-2-metre-j-flex-2 This is the flexible pipe you need not flue liner.
It's got to travel 10 meters would I need a fan or would fumes find its way out the pipe
-
Already tried a flue liner burnt through on the bends

Yeah until we start it’s a job to know but with it being close to home it’s a massive plus! Wouldn’t have to be on the search or hardwood and make money on chip for my butty! It’s how I pay for the boys to fell when my cordwood when it’s sat for 18months to season and the chip has a value straight away! I feel I would have to pay the groundies on a day rate to fell then I make the profit on the firewood! Thoughts...
