Thanks Alycidon, a good explanation no trickling it overnight for me anymore.

I can't really see the cut down one they just launched doing massively well though.
I agree, although I understand our Asian friends go nuts for big screens (Samsung's etc) but they don't want a full size tablet so this fits the bill perfectly. I think that is market place for this device and it's huge. The few extra that Apple can mop up from around the world from the die hard's are a bonus.

On the assumption that you have a professionally installed burner and flue and that you are using seasoned logs.....
Are you happy to stock up your burner with logs before you hit the sack, close the vent down and let it tick over at night?
I ask as I'm curious what people's thoughts are on the effect this might have to the liner? I have in the past done this but now think that even with seasoned logs this will cause the flue to cool and creosote to form on the lining wall. Does anyone have any long term evidence of this?

As an Apple virgin, that sounds very interesting. The only issue I have with it though is the fact you need to go fully over to apple to be able to use it to full capacity. All due to incompatability issue.
You do not need to go fully over to Apple if you don't wish to. Apple recognise the fact that they are not the leader so have full Windows capability (in terms of docking an iPad to a windows environment). If however you did want to buy an MacBook and immerse yourself in Apple, then you can still run MS Windows on it and all your usual Windows programmes you just need to buy a product called Fusion and of course the Windows OS. Once loaded then then you have a normal Windows environment on a Mac.
There is a growing number of people who do this and generally speaking the people that do so want to use an Apple for all of it's advantages but still have one or two apps that are a must and only run on windows.
IMO tablets are not for everyone yet, in 5+ years though they will be the norm though, PC's and desktops will be taking up space in the tip and tablets will become throw away devices free of data and OS's (thankfully). It will be just another evolution of the tech industry.
-
As I understand it, it's more a case of 'why does the ipad only do so little'...
This I believe, is to be a proper PC, capable of proper PC stuff.
This is Microsoft's great hope, people want tablets to be PC's but they don't want the limitations a PC has (like a clunky OS and management of etc) oh dear it's got a Windows OS! FAIL.
If people want a tablet they will go and buy an iPad or and android equiv, if corporates want to equip their staff with tablets (because everyone is walking through the door with one and taking company data out) then they will buy the MS version so that they can secure the nuts out of it, easily. This is Microsoft's market place, large corporates.
If Joe public buys one then it's because either they like MS or because they aren't aware how to use the iPad/Android properly and think it's just a multimedia device.
A PC is a PC and a tablet is a tablet, only cloud computing can change this and you won't need local storage and the ability to connect all sorts of crap you had to on a PC just to make it useable.

Its all about energy saving and energy efficiency ratings that all new building must reach.

I saw a programme about a house that was built into the side of a hill, it was so air tight that it became damp and the air rank in the rooms that weren't used much.
They ended up using fans to circulate the air. Burning electricity to circulate air seemed to be a bit crazy seeing as air is free and flows readily through the gaps in my non air tight home.

Its a ms200, they come in top or rear handle, "t" stands for top handle.
Thanks, never seen the rear handle one in the flesh.

Peter at firstfour will give you some good advice, you will have to close you eyes when you walk past the Red hydraulic winch he has on the Defender outside, very nice.

Interesting saw in the first picture Arbogrunt, is that a modded 200T with a rear handle? Not seen that before.

That's the information I needed.. What does screeding involve?
Sand & Cement.
Or if it's free standing and you have a normal plaster wall you could go for lime. Lime can take heat and will not give you the cracking you get with normal plaster, I have it behind this burner below and this is an 8kw stove a few inches from the wall.

I never used mine long enough to be an expert by any means, however I did find the wire rope coupled with a 8274 made my 90 very front heavy. I was told I might need to change the springs after a while as they have seen them sag after long periods with the additional weight. I believe synthetic goes a long way to solving this.
One thing I didn't appreciate until after I bought the winch is the retrieve speed, if you get one that is very fast and is mainly used for off road comp type stuff they are almost impossible to use slowly i.e when you want the winch to take up the slack and roll in a few inches of cable, fast winches will roll in a few feet at the slightest click of the controller. This I imagine would be important for assisted tree work where you need to take the weight slowly rather than snatch it.

I have done it a few times (BA and Flybe flights), as stated above drain and pack.

Thanks for bumping the thread guys:thumbup1:
had to move the jump date due to family commitments, wont be doing it now til november but keep donating guys, its for a good cause ( the childrens trust )
Mmmm November, take thermals! It's frigging cold up there at the minute, November is less pleasant. I think I wimped out at minus 15 last year, it should be nearing that by then
If you have a pair or thin'ish but very warm gloves take those as well (i use neoprene diving gloves, toasty), generally the kit they give to the tandems is pony. Not much fun when you can't feel your hands. Less fun when you have to pull your own chute

I really don't think she wanted to jump from that plane....
Some people need encouragement, that's probably not the way forward though.
He got stripped of his rating/license and thankfully she didn't drop out of the harness on deployment, god only knows how though.

Carpel tunnel can be resolved by an operation, you say you don't want to go down that route but if that is your only option then it should be a consideration. There is a pretty good explanation of it here Carpal tunnel release surgery | Bupa UK

Isn't there an app for this?
Take a picture of the tree on an iPad, stand next to the customer and draw a proposed reduction line around the tree, educate them as to what would be best for the trees health etc. If they are happy with this then crack on, if not then re-draw to their spec.
Once finished compare the saved picture (with pre-agreed reduction line) to the finished job, if it's off spec then you cocked up, if it's bang on the money then only an idiot could complain.
Simples.

Has anyone noticed surface rust on their Wallenstein?
I am not having a pop at them, I love mine but it is starting to rust. I will contact Andy to discuss but wanted to see if this is a generic problem.

Offer it to someone who can teach woodland courses, survival/nature skills etc and take a skim off the top 10% goes to you etc.
Rear pigs, sell the meat.
Create a canopy walk way and offer a climbing experience.

I'll be selling my Defender pickup (blatant plug) at the end of this month, but it's a tad over your budget and it's a 90. It's very nice though

That was under construction last time I was in Singapore.
I can't wait to visit the Marina Sands when I go back over.
I love Singapore.
Anyone else crunched monkey nuts in Raffles?
Yes.
I go there a fair amount (Sing not Raffles) love the place. Clean and safe, as it should be. Very sterile if you live their I understand.

How dry can you get your logs?
in Firewood forum
Posted
If I remember correctly a snapped broom handle that lives in an airing cupboard was something like 7%. I fail to see how a log can get to 2%.
Even if it does it will suck up moisture as soon as it comes out, seems like a false economy.
