  1. Just back from a short break in the Cotswolds and a lovely cottage in stow that looked freshly done up. It had a couple of stoves that looked nice enough from the outside and being me, a keen stovist, I had to have a quick look inside.  I didn't see a brand name but they felt cheap, the doors felt very light and flimsy. My guess is they won't last. My own 2 stoves are only in the £650 ish price range (a Stovax and Franco belge) but seeing or feeling these cheaper ones reaffirmed my thoughts that it's worth spending a little more.  I'm not sure if you need to spend £650, or £450, but there are definitely still stoves that are 'too cheap' about.

Hi all there’s Little point in buying a cheap stove because what will happen you will end up hurting more wood as there is very little control on a cheap stove and they’re not very efficient thanks I have euro heat 16kw and also resolute acclaim are absolutely brilliant it’s all down to what you’re prepared to pay to how good a stove actually is thanks John

  2. After a wet morning, we came back from the yard to an afternoon of chain grinding and admin [emoji51]
    Looked out the window...

My 75-80 year old neighbour is up the tree again.

A while back he asked me for a price, I told him a morning for two guys to remove it.
    (Probably 3hours)
    £150 as your my neighbour.
He grinned and told me he'd do it himself.
I advised caution and a soas.
    He used an electric jigsaw....

So today I see him and say: look I'll put it on the ground safely without breaking the 3 telecom wires through it and you can clear the mess. £75
    I do it he grins.

So lunchtime today he's at it again.
    Now let me explain.
    He's a multi millionaire.
Owns a vast portfolio of properties commercial and domestic.
But he's still an old man about to fall out the tree.
    I can't watch anymore.
Me and my colleague put the tree on the ground carefully.
    [emoji106]
At which point a local builder pops by.
Takes one look at the tree and says
The house isn't yours yet mate.
    Be careful...
    [emoji51][emoji51][emoji51]
Turns out he bought it at auction, and has paid for it, just waiting on conveyancing.
    ??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️
    Hindsight suggestions gentlemen?

  3. Bought some of that Ferrex cordless gear from Aldi  to stop the lads on landscape from taking my dewalt gear from the workshop out on site , bit of a confession here and have to admit its actually pretty good. Its a 20v/40v system where the 20v gear can be used with the 40v batteries  I have used the drill, screwdriver rattle gun and grinder, I also thought I would try the 40v chainsaw as they only need it to cut up the occasional sleepers and fence posts. The 20v/40v 5amph batteries last forever on the 20v drills and grinders, in the saw they also last as long as the batteries on my stihl battery saw that I keep in the machines. Nothing much here to not like with a three year warranty.

  6. Great question!!...This thread is based on one day when all I had was £1 and no work and what I did to change that and It is a continuation...There is little work where I am up North and when times are desperate I will travel and stay wherever that journey takes me.All un planned and on the spur of the moment. If I had to describe myself in one word,it would be "Exhuberant" and I look for the positive in every negative.I am the eternal optimist. If i could get full time (on the books) work in Durham i would really be living the dream but until then...this life pays my tax..insurance..fuel and food...  If anyone out there has anything going in the area of Arb training message me..I,d love to hear from you so I can follow my dream.I,ll travel anywhere....

Hi Paul well done mate give marc a ring mate pm or phone if you not got his no mate thanks Jon
