    So if I did the CS31 course this summer, I have 2 years to take the exam before I have to know about HOW to winch? Currently trying to organise any work to give me the experience to pass (shameless self advert LOL)

    Unless it has changed in the last month or so, all you need to know is that if you can't clear a hung-up tree by either 80/20 or letter-box cuts and poling out, then a winch must be used. You just have to show that you are aware of the possibility.

    I'm after some more experience as well as work. Off to Edinburgh for a few days now but will be sorting out ads when I get back, unless some kind person on here wants to make me an offer lol

    You are assuming the kids can/will read it On a more serious note re trespassers, if they are engaged in a criminal activity then any Tortious claim for compensation/damages against the landowner could be defeated by the ex turpi causa defence. Unfortunately, trespass on its own is a civil offence, not criminal and so not covered.

    An old gunsafe would do the trick as well, without needing to take off the bars. Normally plenty on Ebay. As to the chipper quest, we do have plenty of marshland and secluded creeks down here if a substitute is needed )

    Hi all, Newbie on the forum here, looking to pick up work with someone I can learn from. I have CS30, have done the CS31 course with Steve Woodley at Writtle but am realistic enough to know I need experience to pass the exam. I am also 1st Aid ticketed and hold a full, clean driving licence (passed 1988) with some limited experience in tractor driving. I'm based in south Essex but am prepared to work elsewhere for a few days at a time, in particular the Chesterfield area where I could stay with my brother. I have my own PPE and am not afraid of hard physical work, being 6ft + and built like the proverbial. Due to other commitments, I can't do Tuesday or Wednesday mornings during term-time. If anyone can help, please give me a shout, equally if someone has a woods of their own that they are clearing where I could practice. Thanks for reading
