Classic!
Without the study & if you cant even remember where you read it , how do we know that you didn't misunderstand it or miss some relevant key words & just used it to support your belief? Or that it was just silly stuff funded by

Wales have been having great results with Bovine TB without killing badgers. In fact the number of cattle slaughtered due to bovine TB has nearly halved in just 4 years, from 11,671 in 2009 down to 6,102 in 2013.
This has been done by managing cattle not badgers.
The methods involved include.
•Annual testing of all cattle throughout Wales .
•Zero tolerance on overdue tests
•Movement restrictions
•DNA tagging of infected animals to ensure the correct animals are sent to slaughter
•Setting up Intensive Action Areas to advise farmers on bio-security and best practice to reduce disease spread and keep disease out of the herd.
The opposite approach used in England, based on badger slaughter in individual areas has not worked.
So it seems the way forward is educating farmers & stricter controls on cattle movement...etc. as above.
If badger setts were also tested & if infected they & the badgers based in it destroyed, it seems a very good job would have been done to help eradicate this disease.
Spiral
I think you will find the reason why "Wales has been having great results with Bovine TB without killing badgers", is more to do with the populace taking the law into their own hands, and the officials turning a blind eye, so they can trot out the statistics, and bury a very hot potato.

The climber was a guy called Harold "Hap" Johnson from the north west US. He was also the climber in this;
My money is on your reply, looks like he's going to set up a spar tree, that is one fantastic video

Interesting Josh that the Kranmans haven't a good reputation. I think it was a thread a while back where you mentioning them alerted me to their existence.
Areleywood - glad to hear that you are doing well with yours. I don't dispute that they are quick and efficient in the right hands but there are a lot of problems with them:
* They do roll easily on a side slope - watched a very experienced operator go over on very little side slope combined with a stump.
* They have aspects of their design that are really poor - the brakes are awful, the gearbox is awful, there is insufficient space for a larger person to operate it comfortably or carry any tools. The underside/driveshaft is exposed. The cab option is cripplingly expensive and required if you are going to use them on FCS land.
* When you actually look at the components, they aren't worth close to £40,000.
Can I suggest that anyone who is skilled in this kind of agricultural welding/fabricating that there is a gap in the market for a UK built mini forwarder?
How about this

County town is it not...?
Yes it is now, but that honour used to belong to Bodmin, which was just about famous for it's lunatic asylum,

CJ were you a Lander boy by any chance?
No, I'm a Camborne boy, Treswithian was my school, although I believe they call it Camborne Comprehensive nowadays.

Aaah.... Truro, done bit there as well.... Some work in Lemon Quay, and round the corner on Newham Road. Did Chris Harrison Law [the old M&S offices] as well, and a bit for Winter Rule [now Francis Clark] before they built their new office building... I like Truro, nice little town
Sorry to be pedantic, but as a proud Cornishman, Truro is our one and only city!

It's all down to greed. The supplier's greedy for profit and the consumer's greedy for wanting cheap, cheap, cheap with as little effort as possible.
The consumer will quite happily sit and watch lifestyle cookery programmes on TV yet they'll stick ready made crap in front of their family.
The average consumer is now a lazy lard a**" and as long as they exist then there's a ready market to be exploited.
Stop sitting on the fence and say what you really think, Graham!
Where I grew up we had a slaughter house in the village, and as I had family that worked in it I spent a lot of time there, so I had no illusions about where meat came from. The problem now is that the general public are so far removed from where their food comes from, they don't care, unless the media choose to emphasize it. All they see now in a supermarket is marketing and a cellophane wrapped "product".

A lot of horses will have had "bute" given as a painkiller/anti inflammatory drug over the years. This may cause an adverse reaction if given in high enough doses, although they are saying you would have to eat 500 contaminated horse burgers for you to reach "danger" levels. Would'nt worry about it to be honest, still more chance of being run over by a car
I think the other thing is, that if we buy something we want what it says on the tin, not what the supermarkets can make most money out of, this has been going on for years, and they knew it.

Update; spoke to the tree officer, who was very helpful and said as they are old and knackered, and the owner intends to replant, send email and do it under a 5 day notice. Thanks for the advise everyone.

I have not been on here for some time, but caught up with this thread this morning. Don't know what to say really, other than don't give up. You are a strong man, stay strong.
This chap is worth a look at, he has a very enlightened view of access for wheelchair users, especially in the countryside.
