  1. yes, got yvonnes details from last fmoc;s thanks - will contact her -
  2. yes unfortunately, when youve got lads sat waiting for work - you go where you think it will keep them busy for a few months etc - but when the pay doesnt come through you have to take it on the chin - unfortunately in this climate its not nice - just thankful that weve got back in with our local FC and got some good felling for our lads to get stuck into - will keep them busy for a bit. - although always on the lookout for work:001_tt2:
  3. wanting to get the last FMOC tickets for our lads, which is the FMOC harvestor course, does anyone know of a course running at the moment or very near future - we usually use Dick Bradshaw for all our training - hes brill -but hes not always in the country - could be training people all over the world - thought id just post this thread before I contact Dick to see if theres a course running in near future that our lads could tag onto?
  4. Derek still keeps in touch :thumbup:did meet Dad - all brill - David, Derek, Donald etc we had the full clan visit whilst Skylining - I think they were checking us southerners out! - but they were all the nicest bunch Ive met!! Fantastic Company - and we all had some laughs. Were planning a reunion at next APF its just down road from us at Cannock and we should all being well be helping our friends from Fuelwod run their site and supplying them with timber etc and carting back and forth for them to our site nearby so will be there all week - will have to set up a mini Arbtalk Scottish Reunion! Wont be working for Neil again through! - still waiting for my money 12 months down the line! - does he do this to alot of folks??? no wonder he struggled to get skyliners there if thats what hes like?
  5. the last ones Ill post - so as not to bore you with it - but very proud of our achievements - I think we know all about putting this old girl back together again now, from new pistons to clutch, and rewire, shes had a full rebuild and respray and renew to set her goiing for another 30 years+, all done by myself, and Tony my mechanic and thanks to master Mechanic and master tractor brain Ken Ferriday (tonys dad) for advice, my dad for painting the wheels and fiddly bits and me for spraying it!
  6. the rebuilt county 1124 just waiting for cab to be put on and bonnet, which is on now with new decals will post a pic - shes had more money spent on her than my wife!!!! - thats dangerous!
  7. our countys, one an 1004 now sold, but pics of our 1124 before and during full rebuild and recon. will post a pic of how she is now
  8. depends how its been felled and terrain - we do alot of coming in after harvesters so could be between 15-30 tonne - trouble is theres alot of things that you have to way up on each individual job - if getting the stuff the harvestors cant get you have to do alot of setting up and then skylining off then moving rig and setting up again and sometimes its a nightmare to get a decent bit of tonnage off
  9. think there all on the same principle - but theirs have powered carriages with engines on
  10. Feshie - working with Scottish Woodlands and skylining with Comray & Rory Stuart
  11. Glen Feshie Estate, working with great lads like Comray Stuart and Rory - The Prosser boys - Derek and Donald with Harvester, hand fellers - Keith & Carl - working for Scottish Woodlands - met some great Scottish Lads!
  12. do you mean where were based? - near Uttoxeter, Staffs pics where taken in Scotland - working near Aviemore in October - December last year - had to pull out early as the weather changed. - freezing the drums solid down to minus 10 and spending 2 hours lighting fires under the brakes to free them off - then when the snow thawed after a few hours, wading in 2 foot of water when you step out of the cab.! - oooh what a lovely job that was! - but what we have to do to make a living
  13. some skyline pics of our timbermaster skyline - had a few people enquire what our avatar pic was - heres a few pics for you all to look at
  14. sorry to have not got back to you - been away for half term - but yes it is a timbermaster skyline - yes we do use it alot, we do alot of winching - if you want to see some pics see our flikr website RM Yeomans Forestry Contractor and Firewood Merchant | Home - brill bit of kit the lads have been up to Scotland with it and all over. We have just done up our county 1124 with a boughton 20t winch on which was long overdue an engine rebuild which also has worked a hell of a lot winching timber out of lakes etc and pulling trees over. will try and put some pics on - anyone know how you upload them?
  15. not trying to upset you - our prices are our prices, yours are yours - whats your prob. - were all far enough away from each other - whats your problem :confused1: the more competition the better - keeps us all on our toes and when them logs are a burning - theyll soon want replacing:thumbup1:
  16. rightly so, I dont want to upset anyone - after all yes we are all wanting to make a living - whats to get upset about kindlett - I thought we were all just putting our wares on line for interestede parties - if people are up North then its closest to go to 76AR and hes got a niche with kiln dried - if in wales are then they can contact you - Kindlett if they are in the Midlands they can contact me - if they want - Im not forcing people to - its a free country and a free website? dont get your kindling in a twist kindlett - it wasnt so long ago you bought some stuff off us for your so called Campsite? and any way thought you were selling your business on ebay not that long ago? signed Mrs Logbaron - not wanting to upset or put anyones noses out of joint will retire and leave the logwars to smoulder!

  19. seem to remember we paid about 3-500 quid for ours few years back (from fuelwood) and at the time, the lads thought they would make one themselves - but then him indoors thought about it and after thinking it was just another project to get round to bought one, it was the best thing we had - load it with crane a good load on then just pull off onto the processor with hook. then we updated to a hydraulic feed japa - even better.
  20. We fell all our own timber from Forestry Commission for Firewood production - wouldnt touch windblown too much effort to get back the bit of return we do, taking out all our costs - employees wages, fuel, repairs, cutting wood, forwarding wood, transport to yard, stack for a year, process, load into truck, deliver to customer - when youve taken out all your costs you sometimes feel youve done all this for veryvery low return - youll never be rich in firewood!
  21. V.good if got a lot of space, weve got a JCB loadall, but remember there not very maneouvreable - but can lift alot, also will churn your ground up, unless your lucky and got lots of concrete. They all have their pros and cons. Big bobcat with good attachments is what where looking out for as another yard machine, as forklifts need concrete unless paying alot for rough terrain ones. tractor and loaders are not very manouvreable and also if youve got to keep taking tractor off machine to move bags you soon get fed up of this. Unfortunately in this game - as alot of people find out when you want to do this in a big way or fultime you need alot of big machines, tractors, loaders and then its a bigger splitta or a faster processor or a better truck - when will these men be happy with what theyve got - signed a disgruntled wife who wishes her man would spend as much on her as his bloody county!!! sorry to take it out on this thread - but sometimes I feel like I logbarons secondbest - his real wife is his tractor!
  22. Ashridge trees Buy Hedging, Hedge Plants, Fruit Trees, Soft Fruit, Roses, do a good service, used them before for fruit/nut trees etc
  23. japa do a reasonably priced log deck with no hydraulics on, could load with a cheap bobcat with grab on and have a set of pallet forks on as well for moving bulk bags., so you dont have to keep reattaching tractor.
  24. one lady we delivered to said she couldnt get our logs to burn on her brand new woodburner - when we went into the immaculate front room, she was putting on one big lump of dry beech from us and trying to light it with a match! - when I pointed out she needed some paper and sticks or a firelighter - she said - oh if I knew it was going to be this messy I wouldnt have installed it - it was only that the mothers at preschool had all got one that Ive put one in - unbelievable hey ....
