Bit if a thread revival! Has anyone used the protos Comms system? I've been using Sena for years but getting frustrated with the speed at which the guys damage the wires, particularly those going to the ear defence (even when fitted internally... Cheers Mark

I'm after some advice from those who know and have some experience. I'm going to sell.my alpine and get a digger primarily for feeding a 12" chipper, but I would also like to be able to do some flailing, shearing small trees and hedges with it as well as some.digging. I'll be moving it behind a mog so not too worried about weight. I've sort of narrowed it down to something in the 5-8t range, probably erring towards 5t due to the compactness of the machine. We use a bloke with a super reach 21t for big stuff, so not worried too much about working on big trees with it. My gut feeling is whatever will be a compromise between nimbleness, stability and lifting/flow capacity... What are poses thoughts and experiences? Cheers

Panels sorted now thanks. I'm now after a front mount chipper, minimum of 10" ideally 12" and working. Anyone know of any about?

A bit late tothe party here, but going through similar considerations. I currently run a Land Rover 130 tipper, a 15T lorry with crane and tipper. I need a second tipper capable of carrying at least 3 people and ideally no bigger than 7.5t GVW. I have narrowed down to either a Iveco Daily 7T crew cab or a normal 7.5T tipper. I think my preffered option is the Daily as it is less liekly to be over loaded and slightly smaller. Where as it sounds like it would be quite easy to over load a 'normal' 7.5t tipper. Any thoughts? And has anyone got a 7T Daily, if so whats it like? Cheers

Thanks, It's in the buttress on both trees, hence with further consideration i dryadeus seems more likely to me now, and in a less busy area I'd be inclined to leave it alone. However, the large and sustained footfall around the trees, both which have sizable and over extended branches. hence i think I need to try and reduce the risk of limb failure...

Thanks, I agree hispisdus is normally higher. There is 2 oaks with this on, I tending towards Inonotus dryadeus, now I've had think about it. Feel I'm going around in circles a bit...

I think that this is an old Inonotus sp bracket on a large oak I've been asked to look at. Could anyone confirm this? I think it's hispidus... My current thinking is a crown reduction, largely as it is in an area of high footfall. Any thoughts? Tia

I'm looking to fit a loader to my BCS Volcan 750. Obviously no where is open, but I've emailed Kilworth for prices etc. My question is do any other loaders fit and what attachments do people find the most use? I was thinking a bucket with grab for brash and timber (possibly based on forks) and a 4 way bucket for chip. Cheers Mark

ELCAS is well represented in the tree industry, which is a shame. I'd be happy to be proved wrong though -
It will be an informed decision, most dogs get rehomed easily. However, some dogs aren't suitable and have major issues - in the same way some blokes have major issues. An unpredictable malinois is not something you want around!

Check the paperwork, but that should be easy to sort out. It's the condition that I'd be concerned about, some may be ok but others may be is a state having been christmas treed or sat about for a long time. Not saying don't go for it but check and take a battery to check the thing works! Some of the kit has been out of service for a long time. Normal auction stuff really, but if there are lots of the same types of vehicle, it's easy to swap parts about etc to meet larger sales and so on.

Make sure you check anything over in detail in an ex mod auction though!

I've had no bother, but although it's a special vehicle, I run into on white ( customer Pas anyway). It has 12 weekly inspections and not etc. You need class 2 to drive class 1 to tow anything. We are reaching exempt due to doing tree work and driving the lorry only allows us to do our work, rather than driving being our work (had long discussion on my O Licence seminar about this and got this advice from 3 different VOSA inspectors). I keep a driver's log sheet anyway. The only concern I ever have is being over loaded, but think it's unlikely as we'd bulk out before hitting the max payload of 7t or so.

That's mine! Bloody good bit of kit, but time for an upgrade. It's much much better off road than you'd think as long as it's not wet! The crane is in a great place to make the most of the reach! I need a tipper now though... There's always something!

Thanks,. I can't get on to the AA website either, password epic this week! Funnily enough I just used the FISA guide, reckon it's about as good as you are going to get!
