  1. Pulley saver all the time. It will add years to your climbing life, save your back a lot of wear and tear. just be aware that the friction has to occur somewhere and that is at the hitch, or cam if your lock jacking !!!
  2. Its a pale green. Should nt be too hard to spot. Its a 5.5 ton not a 3.5 as per original post. Would nt be too surprised if the truck turned up. Custom body s are hard to disguise too
  3. Tony I usually find myself nodding in agreement with your posts both on arbtalk and other forums where you converse. But not this time. There are qualifications out there which you can get the syllabus pay your money and get the piece of paper you seek. These qualifications are evaluated by an independent body and should your opinion as a consultant be questioned or challenged you have proof of knowledge rather than just trying to explain your experience. I like you as you know have come up the hard way on the tools. That experience is priceless but the addition of a recognised system of learning broadens the mind. Ramble over. 4. I have a pair. I had the velcro top and bottom, the velcro bottom straps drove me mad so I have just converted them to leather straps. I ve had them 3 years so its not like I didnt give them a chance.
  5. A simple rule for a re shape, find the center of the crown first, that is your highest point work from there, for getting big trees to look balanced wherever you are in the tree any branch at the same distance from center is cut at the same height. The skill is finding the first cut. At first it seems impossible but after a while it becomes second nature. As for a reduction following the original crown shape that is much easier, but applying the lessons you learn from reshaping will enable you to make better judgements when you need to find growth points. Some have a natural ability others have to learn it but all can get good with time.
  6. With all due respect do your customers know what a quality job is ? IME they know about customer service, and how tidy their garden is at the end of the day. Do they understand the technical aspect of your quote? How your finished product fits the description ? As for slipping standards post accreditation that is more about the person running the company than the AA. You have your standards regardless of the AACs and you set those standards and adhere to them, it shows your commitment to quality but who validates that? Report shoddy work. If this was done that will put pressure on maintaining standards. Dont get me wrong I am not having a dig. I run a small business which is not approved and our pruning work is better than most of my local AA contractors, but i am working towards getting accredited as I believe it will ad to the credibility of my business and set me apart from my competitors. Rant over
  7. Report them to the AA then. I think it is better to be shouting and asking questions from the inside where you might get heard, than shout from the outside. I did as many of you are stayed on the outside for many years but believe me there is a will within the AA to listen and adapt.
  8. I have a 395xp awesome saw but the vibrations are worse than the 660
  9. Try just shortening the bridge
  10. Ring Westcon equipment, Dorset. Speak to Malcom or Trevor. Change the shaft and bearings and Grease grease and more grease.

I had one of those. The best harness ever
  12. I have 2 cousins serving in Afgan. If a few shot pigs save their lives or their colleagues give me the rifle I ll shoot them myself.
  13. Well done mate, Prof dip next ??
  14. But the point is its not their tree
  15. The point here is that the tree is not on the property, it belongs to the neighbour. If I were the tree owner I would not agree to any works without any evidence the tree was causing damage. I would also only act if the removal or Lopping (as this is whats being specified) was backed by a report from an Arb consultant, this clearly was a building surveyors report. We loose to many trees or see them butchered because or Building surveyors they should stick to their area or expertise.
  16. Mines a runner but i would just like a manual for it. When the time comes it will definitely get the 5k make over
  17. Hi Guys I am looking for a operators manual for a Gravely 944 woodchipper. Any help would be appreciated
  18. Green waste site next to Hurn airport. Charge for chip but logs are free
  19. revise your Matheck and Lonsdale and you should be fine
  20. I have spoken to the Husky guys today at Capel manor, the reason for the delay is the field testers have come up with a last minute mod which was deemed good enough to delay the launch. He said early Jan. Even with my 'OH YEAH' comment he was confident that it would happen.
  21. I have one and I rate it much better than the Transit
  22. Depending on the age of the apprentice it is a very economical way of employing a trainee. The apprenticeship programme is very much more than just a 'Ticket' factory, it is a 3 way team effort which on completion will give the candidate the training for the cs units and a level 2 diploma in trees and timber. There has to be a buy in from the employer which will take a level of commitment but it is worth it.
