  8. Commercial forestry, so cutting and stacking flat out 5 days a week, put serious competitive hill running on top of that and you end up pretty damn fit and lean

I need to drop a fair bit, i was 13 stone when climbing on a regular basis..

    hit 15 stone at christmas..

im 6' 3' so not a bad weight but lean is the way to go for me as a climber...

3 months to get climbing fit... then i see about getting back in the saddle full time....

  9. Hi all,

Ive been thinking of putting together a fitness programme based on the fitness and work ethic required in the world of tree work, I'd combine the work of the climber groundsman and axe.

I'm no fitness expert but as I'm mainly a manager these days i try to keep fit for work by training and carry out specific exercises to allow be to climb injury free and effectively when i get in the harness.

I'd like some feed back on the idea... with the current LUMBERSEXUAL... trend i thought a woodsman related fitness programme would be appealing across the board.

Open to your favourite exercises and what you all find the hardest part of the job...

mine these days is mental stress.... miss the physical rigour of the job and the daily workout you get form your daily job....

Pics/diagrams or short vids of you all carry out your favourites would be great....

I'll start with a must have in the fitness locker

Burpee.... 100 ten sets of 10.... 60 seconds between sets

    do-burpee.jpg.b8e895c301554dce8bd552d2dfb74b82.jpg

  10. This is wrong on so many levels, my main concern is canvasing for business off the back of conservation area applications...

They should have a code of practice with clearly defined rules to allow them to operate as a trading company as well as undertake council works.

I'd ask to see the codes of practice and get your local councillor involved as this is poor practice and a clear message needs to be sent to RBC and other authorities.

I have worked for companies who scan the planning portal for applications sand then target the house owner/applicant for the works, so the council are only doing the same, its the fact that they brought the commercial team rep to the Conservation application site meeting...

    Disgusting.....

  11. Location is key, more travel less they pay...

I had a right game with them on a recent site in Malvern....

    Poor communication and organisation...

no show on a few occasions at yard too, which was not a big issue with yardman and loader but if you was booking a loader or local farmer for a few hours this would be a real pain in the ass....

  12. :confused1:Yes you can.

Skyhuck, You missed my sarcasm in the original statement, just that lots of simple electrical works now in theory need to be undertaken or at least signed of by a registered fitter and my comment also sighted probably the only electrical works that do not need a certificate (and light bulb change) if done in the work place or household especially when selling your property.
