  1. I hope I've managed to post this in the right place! I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that has already bought their raffle tickets for this year's Arbtlak Raffle which is already at nearly £5000 - wow!! Every penny from the raffle goes directly to The Children's Trust and this amazing amount will really help us to change the lives of children who need it. Just to let you know a little bit more about what we do and where your money goes . . . The Children's Trust cares for children with severe disabilities, some have been born with their disabilities whilst others have had a brain injury due to illness or accident. Our aim is to provide a home from home environment where the children can benefit from care, therapy, rehabilitation and education at our main care centre in Tadworth or with one of our care team members that work up and down the country. Most of our children cannot walk or talk, have impaired hearing or vision or both and many cannot feed without a feeding tube - as you can imagine this brings many challenges to day to day life and fundraising helps us to continue providing these vital services. We have one little boy called Ollie who when he was only one years old had an accident, he was sitting at the table with his sister when he leaned over and grabbed a handful of grapes from a plate and put them all in his mouth - this caused him to choke, he fell unconcious and sadly due to the lack of oxygen this meant he acquired a brain injury. Ollie was initialy given very little hope of making a recovery but through many years of intense therapy and care at The Children's Trust Ollie is doing really well and has been able to return back home to his family. As a mum myself I always think about how easily this happened to Ollie and his family but makes me so glad that there were people there to help when they needed it most. We help many families who may never have heard of us before and hopefully through brilliant fundraising like the Arbtalk raffle we can reach out to more people and let them know about what we do. Our goal is to reach more and more children and raise more awareness of the specialist care we offer to the children who desperatly need it and with your help and support we can do just that! Here is an example of just some of the things your money can help with . . . £15 can buy children's therapy toys such as finger puppets, £25 could buy a big bag of soft play balls, £50 could buy a comfy floor mat for play or therapy, £150 buys a soft wedge to help a childs posture, £300 could get a rollator to help get a child moving. Every single penny will help us to help a child so once again a huge thank you to everyone that has already donated and please if you haven't got your tickets yet don't forget to get them before Friday to be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes! Arbtalk - The Children's Trust Huge and massive thanks to Steve for organising and to everyone that has donated prizes to make the raffle possible - I think this is going to be the best year yet so thanks everyone! Jo (Community Fundraiser - The Children's Trust)
